D1 Arrive in Hami
Arrive in Hami by flight from cities such as Beijing, Chengdu or Chongqing, or take a high-speed train from Urumqi or Dunhuang.
Upon arrival, your local tour guide will meet you and begin a relaxed city tour of Hami. Visit the Hami Food Streets to sample local specialties and experience the lively atmosphere of this oasis city.
Continue to the Palace of the Hami King, a historic site associated with the rulers of Hami. Explore the traditional architecture and learn more about the history of this important oasis on the ancient Silk Road.
After the sightseeing, check in to your hotel and enjoy a free evening in Hami.

D2 Hami – Dahaidao Yadan – Hami
Today, travel deep into the desert to explore the spectacular Dahaidao Yadan Landscape, a vast area of wind-eroded landforms in the Gobi Desert. The region is sometimes known as a “Ghost City” because of its unusual rock formations and the mysterious atmosphere created by the desert landscape.
As you travel through the vast wilderness, you will see Yadan formations of different shapes and sizes, sculpted by wind and natural erosion over thousands of years. The remote desert environment, dramatic rock formations and wide-open horizons create excellent opportunities for photography.
Dahaidao lies within the extensive desert and Gobi landscapes of eastern Xinjiang, which are geographically connected to the wider desert region toward Dunhuang. Enjoy the unique scenery and sense of isolation as you explore this remarkable landscape.
In the late afternoon, leave the desert area and drive back to Hami city.

D3 Hami – Gaojiahu Wetland – Balikun
After breakfast, drive for approximately 2 hours from Hami to Gaojiahu Wetland, a peaceful natural area surrounded by grasslands, lakes and farmland.
Take a relaxing walk around the wetland and enjoy the changing scenery of water, open grassland and cultivated fields. The area offers a pleasant contrast to the arid desert landscapes experienced the previous day.
Depending on the season and local conditions, you can also enjoy horse riding on the grassland, providing a chance to experience the traditional pastoral lifestyle of northern Xinjiang.
In the late afternoon, continue to Balikun and explore its historic old town. Walk along sections of the ancient city wall and see traditional landmarks such as the city gates and watchtowers, which reflect the area’s long history as an important settlement and transportation point.

D4 Balikun Grassland – Hami Departure
In the morning, explore the magnificent Balikun Grassland, set against the backdrop of the Tianshan Mountains. The vast grassland scenery, snow-capped mountain peaks and peaceful pastoral landscape create a striking contrast with the desert scenery around Hami.
Enjoy views of cattle and sheep grazing across the open grassland, and take time to walk around and photograph the beautiful Tianshan scenery.
In the afternoon, drive approximately 2 hours back to Hami. Upon arrival, transfer to Hami Airport or Railway Station for your onward journey by flight or high-speed train.
