D1 Urumqi City Tour
Meals: None
Arrive in Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang. Depending on your arrival time, meet your private guide and driver and begin a city tour.
Visit Red Hill Park, one of Urumqi’s best-known landmarks, and enjoy views over the city. Then explore the lively Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar, where you can browse traditional handicrafts, ethnic textiles, dried fruits, spices, souvenirs, and other local specialties.
Stay overnight in Urumqi.
D2 Urumqi – Gurbantünggüt Desert – Fuyun
Distance: about 473 km | Driving time: about 5 hours

Leave Urumqi in the morning and drive north toward Fuyun County.
Along the way, pass through the vast landscape of the Gurbantünggüt Desert, one of the largest deserts in China. Enjoy the changing scenery of northern Xinjiang as the route takes you through broad desert landscapes and remote areas.
Continue to Fuyun and arrive in the late afternoon.

D3 Fuyun – Keketuohai Scenic Area – Burqin

In the morning, travel to Keketuohai Scenic Area, a spectacular destination known for its granite mountains, deep valleys, clear rivers, and forest landscapes.
Explore the scenic area and enjoy the peaceful combination of mountain valleys, flowing rivers, unusual rock formations, and birch forests. The varied natural scenery makes Keketuohai one of the highlights of northern Xinjiang.
In the late afternoon, continue to Burqin and check in to your hotel.

D4 Burqin – Hemu Village – Jiadengyu
Distance: about 157 km | Driving time: about 3 hours

After breakfast, drive to the picturesque Hemu Village, one of the most distinctive traditional settlements in northern Xinjiang.
Spend the day exploring the village and surrounding mountain scenery. Walk among the traditional wooden houses and enjoy views of the Hemu River and surrounding silver birch forests.
Take a short hike or walk to a hillside viewpoint for a panoramic view of Hemu Village. The combination of wooden houses, forested mountains, and the river creates a beautiful alpine landscape.
In the late afternoon, continue to Jiadengyu.

D5 Jiadengyu – Kanas – Burqin
Distance: about 122 km | Driving time: about 2 hours

In the morning, head to Kanas Scenic Area, one of the most famous natural attractions in northern Xinjiang.
Visit beautiful Kanas Lake, surrounded by forested mountains and alpine scenery. Climb to the Fish Viewing Pavilion for a panoramic view of the lake and surrounding mountains.
You can also take a leisurely walk along part of the lakeshore and explore the surrounding silver birch forests.
In the late afternoon, return to Burqin.

D6 Burqin – Urho Ghost City – Dushanzi

Continue your journey through northern Xinjiang toward Dushanzi, a district of Kuitun.
En route, visit Urho Ghost City, a remarkable desert landscape shaped by wind erosion. The area is characterized by unusual rock formations and hills in a variety of shapes, some resembling castles, animals, and other imaginative figures.
Continue south toward Dushanzi and arrive in the late afternoon.

Today, begin your journey along the spectacular Duku Highway, traveling from Dushanzi toward Nalati through the Tianshan Mountains.
Start with a visit to the impressive Dushanzi Grand Canyon, where steep cliffs, deep valleys, and rugged mountain formations create a dramatic landscape.
Continue along the winding mountain road and enjoy the remarkable changes in scenery as you cross different elevations. Depending on the season, you may encounter forests, grasslands, snow-capped mountains, and alpine valleys within the same journey.
Arrive in Nalati Town in the late afternoon.

D8 Nalati – Bayinbuluke – Kuqa
Distance: about 355 km | Driving time: about 7 hours

Continue your journey along the southern section of the Duku Highway today.
Travel through the spectacular Tianshan Mountains toward Bayinbuluke, a vast highland grassland known for its open meadows, rivers, wetlands, and surrounding mountains.
Continue south through high mountain passes and alpine valleys toward Kuqa (Kucha). Enjoy the dramatic changes in landscape as you travel from the grasslands of northern Xinjiang toward the dry landscapes of southern Xinjiang.
Arrive in Kuqa in the late afternoon.

Begin your Kuqa sightseeing with a visit to the Kuqa Palace, a historic residence associated with the rulers of the former Kuqa region. Explore its traditional architecture and learn more about the history and culture of this ancient oasis city.
Continue to the Kizil Thousand Buddha Caves, one of the most important Buddhist cave complexes along the ancient Silk Road. Admire the surviving murals and sculptures and learn about the development of Buddhism and cultural exchanges in this historic region.

After breakfast, transfer to Kuqa Airport for your flight to Urumqi.
Upon arrival in Urumqi, you can continue to your next destination by flight or train according to your travel arrangements.
