If you are planning a Li River Cruise on your Guilin tour, your boat will usually arrive at Yangshuo, where many travelers begin exploring this charming riverside town. No matter where you stay or what you do in Yangshuo, you will likely find yourself visiting Yangshuo West Street (Xi Jie), the town’s most famous pedestrian street.
Located near Yangshuo Dock, where many Li River Cruise boats arrive, West Street stretches for about 500 meters from the dock area to Pantao Road along a northeast–southwest route. With a history of more than 1,400 years, this renovated old street has become one of the most popular places to visit in Yangshuo.
Today, Yangshuo West Street offers a lively atmosphere with a mix of traditional charm and modern entertainment. The street is lined with colorful bars, souvenir stalls, restaurants, cafés, and local shops. Although increasing commercialization has changed some of its original character, West Street remains an interesting place for travelers to experience Yangshuo’s vibrant nightlife, enjoy local food, shop for souvenirs, and watch the crowds pass by.
Visitors can find a wide variety of street food and unique souvenirs, ranging from inexpensive tourist gifts to beautiful handmade crafts such as Miao ethnic embroidery. At night, Yangshuo West Street becomes especially atmospheric, with glowing lights, live music, busy restaurants, and travelers gathering for dinner or drinks. Since the street can become very crowded in the evening, visitors are advised to take care of their personal belongings. For a more relaxed experience, visiting during the daytime is ideal for a leisurely walk and sightseeing.
