Prime minister of Shu Kingdom, seven times had Mr. Zhuge Liang come out of Sichuan from here for his great conquers of Mid China, and a lot of tales about three kingdoms were left here. And Jianmenguang Pass had the fame of ‘The first Pass in China’ due to its precipitous path.

And the old town of Langzhong were also frequently appeared in many poets’ master pieces as the Fairy Land, and it also played the important role of temporal capital for Sichuan province at beginning of Qing dynasty.

Day 1: Chengdu – Giant Panda Base – Sanxingdui Museum – Mianyang

(Lunch, Dinner)

Your Sichuan adventure starts with a visit to the famous Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, located about 10 kilometers north of downtown Chengdu.

In the morning, your guide will take you to this beautiful bamboo-covered park, where you can observe giant pandas in their natural-style habitats.

You will have the opportunity to watch these adorable animals eating bamboo, climbing trees, and playing with each other. Their funny movements and relaxed lifestyle make the panda base one of the most enjoyable attractions in Chengdu.

The spacious garden environment, filled with bamboo forests and green landscapes, also provides excellent opportunities for photography.

After visiting the panda base, continue your journey to the Sanxingdui Museum, one of China’s most important archaeological discoveries.

Dating back more than 3,000 years, Sanxingdui represents the mysterious ancient Shu civilization. The museum displays thousands of precious artifacts discovered from the ruins, including:

* Extraordinary bronze masks

* Bronze statues

* Gold objects

* Jade items

* Pottery and ancient tools

The unique artistic style and advanced craftsmanship of Sanxingdui reveal a civilization completely different from traditional Chinese history.

In the late afternoon, continue to Mianyang city for overnight accommodation.

Day 2: Mianyang – Jianmen Pass – Zhaohua Ancient Town

After breakfast, continue your journey along the Chengdu–Mianyang Expressway toward Jianmen Pass.

During the drive, you will experience the dramatic transition from Sichuan’s fertile plains to the magnificent mountainous landscapes of northern Sichuan.

Jianmen Pass: The First Gate Under Heaven

Located in the Daba Mountains, Jianmen Pass (Jianmenguan) has been one of the most important military strongholds in Chinese history.

Ancient Chinese people described its strategic importance with the famous saying:

“One man guarding the gate can prevent thousands from entering.”

Because of its difficult terrain and defensive advantages, Jianmen Pass played a crucial role during the Three Kingdoms period and witnessed many important battles.

Today, it is also a beautiful national forest park featuring:

* Dramatic mountain peaks

* Ancient forests

* The famous Jianmen 72 Peaks

* Historic plank roads

You will first enter Jianmen Pass and enjoy views of the surrounding mountains. Then walk along the ancient plank road built during the Three Kingdoms era, passing scenic locations including:

* Yi Xian Tian (One-Line Sky)

* Shi Sun Peak

* Da Chuan Cave

* Xiao Chuan Cave

The route finally leads to Liangshan Temple, where Emperor Liang Wu Di later became a monk after giving up his imperial life.

Jianmen Pass is also famous for its local specialty — Jianmen tofu banquet. During lunch, you will enjoy traditional Sichuan tofu dishes and experience local cuisine.

Zhaohua Ancient Town

In the afternoon, continue to Zhaohua Ancient Town, a peaceful historic town with more than 2,000 years of history.

Known as an important location during the Three Kingdoms period, Zhaohua was where Liu Bei established his first base in Sichuan after entering the region in 211 AD.

Walking through the quiet streets, you can discover:

* Traditional courtyard houses

* Ancient towers

* Historic stone streets

* Traditional memorial archways

Enjoy a relaxing evening stroll and stay overnight inside this charming ancient town.

Day 3: Zhaohua Ancient Town – Langzhong Ancient Town – Chengdu

Continue your Three Kingdoms cultural journey today with a visit to Langzhong Ancient Town, another historic destination in Sichuan.

With more than 2,300 years of history, Langzhong is one of the best-preserved ancient towns in China. Surrounded by mountains and rivers, it is often called the “Fairyland of Langzhong.”

The town is also closely connected with the Three Kingdoms hero Zhang Fei, one of Liu Bei’s famous generals.

Your guide will take you to visit:

Han Huanhou Temple (Zhangfei Temple)

Learn about the legendary life and loyalty of Zhang Fei, one of the most famous figures of the Three Kingdoms period.

Sichuan Imperial Examination Hall (Gongyuan)

During ancient China, talented scholars came here to take official examinations organized by the imperial government. Today, the site has become a museum where visitors can learn about China’s traditional education and examination system.

You can also climb Zhongtian Tower for a panoramic view of Langzhong Ancient Town and learn about traditional Chinese Feng Shui concepts.

In the afternoon, return to Chengdu.

The journey is approximately 320 kilometers, but thanks to modern expressways, the drive takes around 3 hours. Along the way, enjoy the beautiful scenery of northeastern Sichuan’s hills and countryside.

Arrive in Chengdu in the late afternoon.
