Day 1: Xiamen Arrival – Gulangyu Island
Upon arrival in Xiamen, meet your private driver and transfer to your hotel for check-in. After some time to settle in, visit Gulangyu Island in the afternoon.
Located just off the southwestern coast of Xiamen, Gulangyu Island is easily reached by a local ferry. The island is famous for its peaceful atmosphere, winding lanes, historic architecture, and rich musical heritage.
Following the opening of Xiamen as a treaty port in the 19th century, Gulangyu became home to communities and consulates from several foreign countries. Today, many historic buildings remain, creating a distinctive blend of Chinese and Western architectural styles.
Gulangyu is also known for its strong connection with classical music and is sometimes called the “Island of Music.” During your visit, explore highlights such as Sunlight Rock and Shuzhuang Garden. You can also enjoy a leisurely walk along the island’s quiet lanes, discover small local shops, and look for interesting souvenirs.

Day 2: Xiamen – Yongding Hakka Tulou – Chuxi Tulou Cluster
08:00 – Depart Xiamen
Your private driver will pick you up from your hotel and drive approximately 2.5–3 hours to the Yongding Hakka Tulou area in Longyan, Fujian Province.
Along the way, you will pass rural landscapes and plantations. Make a stop at a local tea plantation, where you can take a relaxing walk among the tea bushes, try picking tea leaves, or simply enjoy the fresh countryside air.
You will also visit a local tea house to learn about traditional Chinese tea culture, watch a tea ceremony, and taste Fujian tea. Fujian is one of China’s most important tea-producing regions and is particularly famous for its oolong and black teas.
11:00 – Gaobei Tulou Cluster
Arrive at the Gaobei Tulou Cluster and visit Chengqilou, one of the most impressive circular earth buildings in the area.
Built nearly 300 years ago, Chengqilou consists of four concentric circular structures and is one of the best-known examples of traditional Hakka Tulou architecture. Its enormous scale and distinctive circular design provide a fascinating introduction to the communal lifestyle of the Hakka people.
12:00 – Chuxi Tulou Cluster
Continue to Chuxi Tulou Cluster, located in a picturesque mountain valley. Check in at a local Hakka family guesthouse and enjoy a traditional local lunch.
Chuxi is home to several well-preserved Tulou buildings, including Jiqinglou, Shengqilou, and Yuqinglou. Jiqinglou, dating from the Ming Dynasty, is particularly notable for its unusual circular design and numerous internal stairways.
In the afternoon, visit a local Hakka family and chat with your hosts to learn more about their daily life, traditions, and customs. You can then climb to a nearby viewpoint for a panoramic view of Chuxi Village.
The rest of the afternoon is free for you to stroll around the village and enjoy its peaceful mountain setting.
18:00 – Hakka Family Dinner
Enjoy a homemade dinner prepared by your Hakka hosts and experience authentic local cuisine in a family setting.

Day 3: Chuxi – Yantai Village – Nanxi Tulou Valley
08:00 – Countryside Walk
Get up early and take a walk along the rural paths behind Chuxi Village. Enjoy the peaceful countryside scenery, including terraced fields, mountain streams, and traditional farmland.
Depending on the season, you may have the opportunity to pick local fruit and experience some simple traditional farming activities.
The terraced fields follow the winding contours of the hillsides, creating beautiful layers of farmland that are especially attractive in the early morning light.
10:00 – Yantai Hakka Village
Continue to Yantai Village, a beautiful traditional Hakka settlement surrounded by mountains and terraced rice fields.
Take a leisurely walk through the village and observe the traditional houses and rural lifestyle. The surrounding rice terraces and peaceful countryside offer excellent opportunities to experience the communal atmosphere of a traditional Hakka village.
14:00 – Nanxi Tulou Valley
In the afternoon, visit Nanxi Tulou Valley, often known as the “Great Wall of Tulou.” More than 100 earth buildings are scattered along a valley stretching for approximately 10 kilometers, creating one of the most impressive concentrations of Tulou architecture in Fujian.
Visit representative Tulou buildings such as Zhenfulou and Yanxianglou, and learn more about the history, architecture, and communal lifestyle of the Hakka people.
18:00 – Check in at Yanxianglou Family Hotel
Check in at a local family hotel in Nanxi Village, Hukeng Town, and enjoy a relaxing evening in the countryside.

Day 4: Yongding – Liancheng – Peitian Ancient Village – Guanzhai Mountain
08:00 – Travel to Liancheng
After breakfast, drive to Liancheng and check in at your hotel. You will stay at a comfortable hot spring resort, providing a relaxing base for exploring the surrounding Hakka villages and mountain scenery.
11:00 – Peitian Ancient Village
Visit Peitian Ancient Village, one of Fujian’s best-preserved traditional Hakka villages. Sometimes referred to as the “Forbidden City of Southern China” because of its impressive collection of historic residences, ancestral halls, and traditional buildings, Peitian offers a fascinating glimpse into traditional Hakka architecture and village life.
The village has a history of more than 800 years and preserves numerous buildings dating from the Ming and Qing dynasties. Take a leisurely walk through its narrow lanes and explore the elegant courtyards, ancestral halls, and traditional residences.
14:00 – Guanzhai Mountain
In the afternoon, visit Guanzhai Mountain, one of Liancheng’s most famous scenic areas. The mountain is known for its dramatic Danxia landforms, unusual rock formations, cliffs, caves, and lush vegetation.
The name Guanzhai Mountain comes from the mountain’s distinctive profile, which is said to resemble the hat traditionally worn by an ancient Chinese official when viewed from a distance. It is also regarded as an important cultural and scenic landmark of the Hakka region.
Explore the scenic area and admire its spectacular combination of red-rock formations, cliffs, valleys, and natural scenery. Among the many unusual formations are the famous Shengming Zhigen and Shengming Zhimen, whose distinctive shapes are associated with traditional symbolism related to the origins of life.
18:00 – Hot Spring
Return to your hotel in the evening and relax in the hot spring after a day of sightseeing.
Overnight in Liancheng.
Day 5: Liancheng – Xiamen Departure
09:00 – Return to Xiamen
After breakfast, drive back to Xiamen. The journey takes approximately three hours, and you are expected to arrive in Xiamen around noon.
Your 5-day Xiamen and Fujian Hakka Tulou tour ends upon arrival in Xiamen.
