Day 1: Xiamen – Yongding Hakka Tulou – Chuxi Tulou Cluster
11:00 – Xiamen Gaoqi Airport Pickup
Your private English-speaking guide will meet you at Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport. Then, your private driver will transfer you to the Yongding Hakka Tulou area in Longyan, Fujian Province. The journey takes approximately 2.5–3 hours.
Along the way, enjoy the changing rural scenery, including banana plantations and other agricultural landscapes. Make a stop at a local tea plantation, where you can take a leisurely walk among the tea bushes, try picking tea leaves, or simply enjoy the fresh countryside air.
You will also visit a local tea house to watch a traditional Chinese tea ceremony and taste some of Fujian’s famous tea.
Fujian is one of China’s major tea-producing regions, with a long history of tea cultivation and production. The province is particularly famous for its oolong and black teas. A visit to the tea plantation provides an opportunity to learn more about local tea culture and traditional tea-making practices.
14:00 – Gaobei Tulou Cluster
Arrive at the Gaobei Tulou Cluster and visit Chengqilou, one of the largest and most impressive circular Tulou buildings in the area.
Built nearly 300 years ago, Chengqilou consists of four concentric circular structures and is known for its remarkable scale. At its peak, the building reportedly accommodated dozens of families and hundreds of residents.
Walk around the Tulou to appreciate its unique circular architecture and learn how the Hakka people traditionally lived together within these large communal buildings.
15:00 – Chuxi Tulou Cluster
Continue to Chuxi Tulou Cluster and check in at a local Hakka family hotel.
Located in a picturesque mountain setting, Chuxi is home to several well-preserved Tulou buildings, including Jiqinglou, Shengqilou, and Yuqinglou. These traditional earth buildings offer a fascinating insight into Hakka architecture and communal life.
Jiqinglou, dating from the Ming Dynasty, features two concentric rings and four floors. Its numerous stairways divide the building into separate living units, reflecting the traditional organization of Hakka families.
In the afternoon, visit a local Hakka family and chat with your hosts to learn about their daily life, traditions, and local customs. Later, climb to a nearby viewpoint for a bird’s-eye view of Chuxi Village and its surrounding mountain landscape.
The remaining time is free for you to stroll through the village and enjoy its peaceful rural atmosphere.
18:00 – Hakka Family Dinner
Enjoy a homemade dinner prepared by a local Hakka family and experience authentic local cuisine in a traditional family setting.

Day 2: Chuxi – Yantai Village – Nanxi Tulou Valley
08:00 – Chuxi Countryside Walk
Get up early and take a trek along the rural paths in the mountains behind Chuxi Village. Enjoy the beautiful idyllic scenery, including terraced fields, winding streams, farmland, and traditional countryside landscapes.
Depending on the season, you may have the opportunity to pick local fruits and experience some simple traditional farming activities.
The terraced fields follow the natural contours of the hillsides, creating beautiful layers of farmland that stretch from the riverside toward the mountain slopes.
10:00 – Yantai Village
Continue to Yantai Village, a picturesque Hakka village surrounded by mountains and terraced rice fields.
Take a leisurely walk through the village and enjoy the peaceful rural atmosphere. The traditional houses, terraced fields, and surrounding countryside provide an excellent opportunity to experience the traditional lifestyle and communal culture of the Hakka people.
14:00 – Nanxi Tulou Valley
In the afternoon, visit Nanxi Tulou Valley, often known as the “Great Wall of Tulou.” More than 100 earth buildings are scattered along a valley stretching for approximately 10 kilometers, creating an impressive landscape of traditional Hakka architecture.
Visit representative Tulou buildings such as Zhenfulou and Yanxianglou, and learn more about the history, architecture, and communal lifestyle of the Hakka people.
18:00 – Check in at Yanxianglou Family Hotel
Check in at Yanxianglou Family Hotel in Nanxi Village, Hukeng Town, and enjoy a relaxing evening in the countryside.
Overnight in Nanxi Village.
Day 3: Nanxi – Liancheng – Peitian Ancient Village – Xiamen
08:00 – Travel to Liancheng
After breakfast, depart Nanxi and travel to Liancheng to visit Peitian Ancient Village, one of Fujian’s best-preserved traditional Hakka villages.
Located near Guanzhai Mountain in Liancheng County, Peitian is sometimes referred to as the “Forbidden City of Southern China” because of its impressive collection of historic residences, ancestral halls, and traditional buildings.
The village has a history of more than 800 years, with its origins dating back to the Southern Song Dynasty. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, Peitian developed into an important settlement along the routes connecting Liancheng and Changting.
Take a leisurely walk through the ancient village and explore its traditional houses, narrow lanes, courtyards, ancestral halls, and other historic buildings. It is an excellent place to experience the architectural style and cultural heritage of the Hakka people.
15:00 – Return to Xiamen
After lunch, begin the drive back to Xiamen. Arrive in Xiamen at approximately 18:00, marking the end of your 3-day Xiamen and Fujian Hakka Tulou tour.
