Day 1 Chengdu – Xingwen
Meals: Lunch | Drive: approximately 480 km / 5 hours
Your journey to southern Sichuan begins early this morning. Your private guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel in Chengdu and drive approximately 480 km to Xingwen County. The journey takes around five hours by expressway, with views of the fertile Chengdu Plain and the changing countryside along the way.
Arrive in Xingwen in the afternoon and begin exploring the spectacular Xingwen Stone Sea (Xingwen Karst), part of the Xingwen World Geopark.
Xingwen is famous for its extraordinary karst landscape, featuring dramatic limestone formations, underground caves, sinkholes, and stone forests. The landscape has been shaped by natural forces over millions of years, creating a fascinating world of unusual peaks and rock formations.
As you walk through the geopark, you may see rocks and peaks that resemble animals, people, or mythical figures. Tigers, goats, and even goddesses can appear in the imagination of visitors as they explore this remarkable natural landscape.
Xingwen is also home to the Miao ethnic community, adding an important cultural dimension to the region. If your visit coincides with a local festival, you may have the opportunity to experience traditional Miao music, costumes, dances, and customs.

Day 2 Xingwen – Shunan Bamboo Sea

Continue exploring the natural wonders of Xingwen in the morning before traveling toward Shunan Bamboo Sea in Yibin.
The drive takes approximately one hour and passes through peaceful countryside and rural landscapes.
Shunan Bamboo Sea is one of China’s most famous bamboo forests, covering a vast mountainous area with dense green bamboo groves. Bamboo has played an important role in Chinese culture for centuries, symbolizing resilience, elegance, and simplicity.
As you explore the scenic area, bamboo forests stretch across the mountains as far as the eye can see. The combination of green bamboo, clear streams, waterfalls, lakes, and mountain scenery creates a peaceful and refreshing atmosphere.
Walk along scenic routes such as the Long Corridor of Green Jade, visit the Seven-Color Waterfall, and explore Forget Sadness Valley.
Take your time to enjoy the quiet atmosphere and immerse yourself in the lush greenery of this spectacular bamboo landscape.
In the evening, stay at a hotel in the mountains.
Overnight: Shunan Bamboo Sea
Day 3 Shunan Bamboo Sea – Lizhuang Ancient Town – Zigong
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch | Drive: approximately 3 hours
Spend the morning continuing your exploration of Shunan Bamboo Sea. Enjoy the peaceful mountain scenery, bamboo forests, streams, and waterfalls before leaving for Lizhuang Ancient

The drive takes approximately one hour.
Located along the Yangtze River, Lizhuang is a historic town with traditional streets, old residences, temples, and riverside scenery.
Lizhuang also has an important place in China’s modern cultural history. During the Second Sino-Japanese War, many Chinese intellectuals and institutions moved inland to escape the war. Tongji University was relocated to Lizhuang, and a number of prominent scholars and cultural figures lived and worked here during this period.
The town therefore offers more than traditional architecture—it also provides an opportunity to learn about an important chapter in China’s modern history.
After exploring Lizhuang, continue by road to Zigong, approximately two hours away.
Arrive in Zigong in the late afternoon and check in to your hotel.
If you travel during the winter or the annual festival period, you may have the opportunity to experience the spectacular Zigong Lantern Festival, famous for its large-scale illuminated displays and colorful traditional lanterns.

Day 4 Zigong – Salt Museum – Dinosaur Museum – Chengdu

Begin your final day by exploring the unique history of Zigong, one of the most important historic cities in southern Sichuan.
Zigong became famous for its traditional well-salt industry. For centuries, local communities developed sophisticated techniques to extract brine from deep underground wells and produce salt. Although modern salt production has replaced these traditional methods, the city’s historic salt industry remains an important part of Sichuan’s cultural heritage.
Visit the Zigong Salt Industry History Museum to learn about traditional salt production, drilling techniques, and the development of the city’s historic salt industry.
Zigong is also internationally known for its rich dinosaur fossil discoveries. Continue to the Zigong Dinosaur Museum, where you can see fossil specimens and learn about prehistoric life in the region.
The museum offers an interesting introduction to Sichuan’s paleontological heritage. While the experience is very different from Jurassic Park, the fossils provide fascinating evidence of the dinosaurs that once lived in this part of China.
Zigong is also famous for its distinctive local cuisine, known as Yanbangcai, or the cuisine of the historic salt-producing communities. The dishes are traditionally characterized by bold flavors and are an important part of Sichuan’s culinary heritage.
After lunch, drive back to Chengdu.
Arrive in Chengdu in the afternoon and conclude your southern Sichuan cultural and nature tour with wonderful memories.
