Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum, also known as Chongqing Museum, is
located in Renmin Road, Yuzhong District, Chongqing. The China Three Gorges Museum in Chongqing covers an area of 50,000 square meters, with a construction area of 71,700 square meters and an exhibition hall area of 31,000 square meters.
Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum was founded in March 1951, it was renamed Chongqing Museum in June 1955, and the new museum was officially opened to the public on June 18,2005. The building is composed of five venues, the main hall, Chongqing Baiheliang Underwater Museum, Chongqing Soong Ching Ling Memorial Hall, Tushan Kiln Site, and Chongqing Three Gorges Cultural Relics Science and Technology Protection Center. Together with the adjacent Chongqing People's Square and People's Hall, the building forms a "trinity" city landmark buildings. The exhibition consists of 4 basic displays, 6 thematic displays, 1360-degree weekly film, 1 half-scene painting display, 1 audience practice center and 3 temporary exhibitions. The museum has a collection of more than 115,000 pieces of cultural relics and more than 18,000 rare precious ancient books, covering 23 categories of cultural relics. It has formed a series of "ancient human specimens, cultural relics of the Three Gorges, Bayu bronzes, cultural relics of the Han Dynasty, cultural relics of the Southwest nationality, cultural relics of the Anti-Japanese War in the rear front, porcelain, painting and calligraphy, and guqin".
On November 18,2020, it was elected as the "New Landmark of Bashu Cultural Tourism Corridor". In November 2022, it was selected as the first group of national science popularization education bases from 2021 to 2025. In January 2023, it was selected into the top 100 top search museums in 2022. In May 2023, it was listed by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism as 10 Yangtze River themed national tourist routes tracing the origin of the Yangtze River Civilization.
