Wulong Karst Nature Reserve

Located at the southeastern edge of Sichuan Basin as well as being the transitional area of Dalou Mountain, Wuling Mountain and Guizhou Plateau, Wulong Karst Nature Reserve belonging to Chognqing city, about 170 kms away from Chongqing. The canyon area at the lower reaches of the right bank tributary of Yangtze River, Wujiang River, was influenced by the different distribution of carbonate rocks and sandstones, at last, there formed the natural landscape of Karst. It has bred three individual Karst systems, including the first cave in the world- Furong Cave, the biggest natural bridge group as well as the Houpingtiankeng, all of which are the rarities of China.
Wulong Attractions in General:
Chongqing Wulong Karst Nature Reserve is a national AAAAA level scenic spot. Wulong includes Tiansheng Sanqiao Bridge, Fairy Mountain, Furong Cave these three parts. Tiansheng Three Bridge is located in the south of Xiannu Mountain, between Xiannu Mountain and Wulong County; Fairy Mountain is located in Fairy Mountain Town, Wulong County, east of Chongqing; Furong Cave is located on the bank of Furong River, 4 km from Jiangkou Town, Wulong County. Three karst attractions, Tiansheng Three Bridge, Furong Cave, Xiannannu Mountain and Houping Tiankeng, have been successfully declared as World Natural Heritage sites.
Houping Sinkhole
Houping Sinkhole is originated from the limestone of Ordovician system. It is made up of the surface streams, Luoshui Cave, pothole, Sinkhole, fossil caves, underground rivers and springs. Houpingtiankeng is a complete Karst system containing different period of development. The most classic one is the Jingkou Tiankeng, of perfect pattern and oval entrance. The depth of the Tiankeng ranges from 295.3 to 195.3 meters. Looking down from the entrance, you may see bold cliff with no end, being much too spectacular. Looking up in the bottom of the Tiankeng, it just likes sitting in a well and look at the heaven--limited outlook, making you feel free from things of the world and far from the madding crowd. By now, the natural landscape is in savagery, haven't been developed yet.
Located at the southern foot of Xiannannu Fairy Mountain, and Sinkhole is born in the Yanghe River Grand Canyon same as Wulong Tiankeng and Tiansheng Bridge scenic spot. But the ground Sink Hole scnery is very different,which is a very rare accessible and ornamental landscape. The length of the Wulong seam is 2 kilometers long, the narrowest point is only 1 meter. The height difference from the valley top to the valley bottom can reach 200~400 meters. The tour route in the scenic area is designed for the whole plank road, scientific and reasonable; there is the first 80 m outdoor sightseeing elevator between the valley floor, and inside the natural cave.

The carbonate karst landform of Wulong Karst National Geopark is rare among the karst landform wonders found in China, and it enjoys the reputation of "the hometown of China's geological wonders and tourism". Wulong karst cave group, Tiankeng group, Tiansheng bridge group, shaft group, canyon, underground seam, stone forest, stone bud, peak cluster, peak forest, peak forest, underground flow, geyser, hot spring and other landforms are widely distributed, intact combination, complete types.
Furong Cave
Furong Cave is boasting as the First Cave in the world. It is originated from the carbonate rocks of Cambrian system and Ordovician system, and it is made up of the Shuairen Cave, Tongqikeng Cave, Tongba Cave, Weijaingling Cave, Xinlukou Cave, Water Curtain Cave, Furong Cave, Sifang Cave and Gangan Cave. The vertical caves like Qikeng Cave are the paradise of exploration lovers and explorers. The broadwise caves like Furong cave are the preferred choice for the tourists. The different patterns of corrosion, the spectacular accumulation of collapse, the vast number of stalactite, as well as the ponds of different locations in the cave, are the records of the evolution.
Furong Cave was found in May, 1993. After two field surveys by relevant karst cave research institutions in China and Australia, it is evaluated as: "wonders of the world, first-class cave scenic spot", "an underground art palace and cave science museum".
The main cave of Furong Cave is 2,700 meters long, with a total area of 37,000 square meters, among which the "Brilliant Hall" covers an area of 11,000 square meters, is the most spectacular. The stalactite type in the cave almost includes the deposition characteristics of nearly 30 kinds of caves in the world. Among them, there are stone waterfalls and stone curtains 15 meters wide and 21 meters high, smooth as jade brown tung-shaped stalagmites, bright like starry curly stones and stone flowers, its number, the beauty of shape, clean texture, wide distribution, is rare in China. The red coral and dog-shaped calcite crystals in the clean basin are even more precious. A large number of secondary chemical deposition forms, constitute a dizzying dozens of landscapes. The main scenic spots in the cave are Golden Temple, Leifeng Pagoda, Jade pillar, heaven, Yulin Qionghua, underwater Dragon Palace, giant curtain waterfall, shida pearl, reproductive pillar, coral Yao pool and so on. Tianshen Bridges, the Bridges born naturally

Tianlong Bridge is a natural bridge, which is 200 meters high and has a span of 300 meters. It is named because of its first place and its indomitable power. There is a hole in the bridge, the hole in the hole. The hole is like a maze, that is spectacular and magical.
Qinglong Bridge is the second bridge, is the largest vertical height difference. The bridge is 350 meters high, 150 meters wide, span 400 meters, the setting sun, the sunset, like a real dragon straight on the sky, so the name Qinglong Bridge.
The Black Dragon Bridge is the natural third bridge, the bridge hole deep 0, the rock on the top of the bridge is like a black dragon hiding here, which is frightening. The scenery of the Black Dragon Bridge is unique with its different modes of "shandie spring", "one line spring", "pearl spring" and "fog spring".
It is earliest recorded in the Yitongzi of Ming Dynasty, about 500 years ago that Wulong was rich of natural born bridges. They are distributed at the 10 kilometers long carbonate rocks reach, been made up of the wadi, underground stream, natural bridges, Tiankeng, caves and Karst springs. The canyon is 200 to 400 meters deep, of which the Yangshui Gorge and Longshui Gorge Difeng Karst Gorges are the most spectacular. The three natural bridges are in the scope of 1.5 kilometers with the same gorge, among each bridge, there are sinkholes, being unique in the world. Tianlong Bridge has two caves, the south one is called the Mihun Cave, and the north one is the natural passageway, in the shape of man-made bridge. Qinglong Bridge is famous for the waterfall falls down the bridge and forms frog, with the sunlight, looking like the Qinglong. Heilong Bridge has arch caves, as deep and dark as a Qinglong wriggling there. The total height, the bridge arch height and the thickness of the bridge floor of the three natural bridges all rank the first in the world, of global meaning.
