Located at the boundary between Sichuan and Qinghai province, Aba county is far away from the influence of Chinese culture, and it has long been the most important religious base in Amdo Tibetan area. Tibetan here mostly are still keeping their traditional way of living, and the well reserved monasteries are scattered in many of the villages.
The normal 3 days’ air tour to Jiuzhaigou covered only mountainous area of Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong because of limited time, and tourists missed the beautiful west Tibetan plateau of Ruoergai grassland, sacred Aba Buddhism monastery, and Ice Glacier of Dagu Valley nearby. It used to be difficult for most of tourist due to its poor transportation, but now travel are much easier due to the good road condition. Day 1 Chengdu – Maoxian – Songpan – Jiuzhaigou
Your journey from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou begins in the morning. Your private guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel and drive north toward Jiuzhaigou Valley, covering approximately 540 km.
The journey includes around 120 km on expressways and 420 km on paved mountain roads. Although it is a long driving day, the spectacular scenery along the way makes the journey an enjoyable part of the adventure. You will pass through dramatic mountain valleys, rivers, forests, and Tibetan villages that were rebuilt following the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake.
Along the way, make a short stop in Songpan Ancient Town, a historic town that once served as an important gateway between Sichuan and the Tibetan plateau. Songpan also played an important role in the ancient tea-horse trade between Sichuan and Tibetan regions.
Take some time to explore the old streets and traditional architecture before continuing toward Jiuzhaigou.
Arrive in Jiuzhaigou in the late afternoon and check in to your hotel. The rest of the evening is free for you to relax and prepare for tomorrow’s exploration of the national park.

Day 2 Jiuzhaigou National Park Excursion

Get up early this morning and travel with your guide to the entrance of Jiuzhaigou National Park. After entering the park, board the environmentally friendly sightseeing bus and begin your exploration of this spectacular UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Jiuzhaigou Valley is shaped like the letter “Y” and consists of three main valleys: Shuzheng Valley, Rize Valley, and Zezhawa Valley.
Each valley is filled with crystal-clear lakes, cascading waterfalls, streams, forests, and snow-covered mountains. The local Tibetan people have given many of the scenic spots poetic names, including Panda Lake, Pearl Shoal, and Long Lake.
The turquoise and emerald-colored lakes reflect the surrounding forests and mountains, creating some of the most beautiful landscapes in Sichuan. The combination of colorful lakes, waterfalls, virgin forests, and snow-capped peaks has earned Jiuzhaigou its reputation as a “fairyland on earth.”
Besides its remarkable natural scenery, Jiuzhaigou is also home to Tibetan communities. Your guide will introduce you to the local Tibetan culture, traditions, and way of life, adding a cultural dimension to your visit.
Travel through the three valleys by sightseeing bus and stop at selected viewpoints along the way. Your guide will share stories about the area’s lakes, forests, villages, and Tibetan heritage.
A simple buffet lunch will be arranged at Nuorilang Restaurant, conveniently located inside the scenic area.
Continue exploring Jiuzhaigou in the afternoon before exiting the national park and returning to your hotel.
Enjoy dinner and a relaxing evening in Jiuzhaigou.

Day 3 Jiuzhaigou – Ruoergai Grassland – Flower Lake – Tangke
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Today you will leave Jiuzhaigou and travel deeper into the Tibetan plateau of northern Sichuan, heading toward the vast Ruoergai Grassland.
Your first stop will be Flower Lake, a beautiful high-altitude wetland surrounded by grasslands. The area is an important habitat for wild birds and other wildlife, while seasonal flowers add vibrant colors to the landscape.
Continue across the vast Ruoergai Grassland, where the open plateau stretches toward the horizon like a huge green carpet beneath the blue sky.
The paved highway winds through the grassland, while Tibetan villages, grazing yaks, horses, and herders bring life to the seemingly endless landscape.
Take your time to appreciate the peaceful atmosphere and wide-open scenery of the Tibetan plateau.
In the afternoon, continue to Tangke, a small settlement located near the famous First Bend of the Yellow River.
Here, the Yellow River makes a graceful curve through the grassland. The calm river, open pasture, distant mountains, and Tibetan herders create an unforgettable landscape.
Your overnight stay in Tangke allows you to experience the peaceful atmosphere of the grassland after the day-trippers have left.
In the evening, you can choose to relax beside the river, walk across the grassland, take photographs of the sunset, or, if available, experience a short horse-riding activity with local Tibetan herders.

Day 4 Tangke – Hongyuan – Aba County
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Wake up early this morning for the opportunity to enjoy the sunrise over the Tibetan grassland. The changing colors of the sky and the wide-open landscape create a particularly beautiful start to the day.
After breakfast, your guide and driver will take you toward Aba County, covering approximately 180 km on paved roads.
As you travel south, the landscape gradually changes from broad grasslands to rugged plateau mountains. Yaks, Tibetan villages, rivers, and mountain scenery continue to accompany you along the route.
Make a short stop near Moon Bend, a scenic section of the Yellow River close to Hongyuan, before continuing to Aba County.
Arrive in Aba in the afternoon. You can visit Kirti Monastery, an important Tibetan Buddhist monastery with a long history dating back to the early 15th century.
After the visit, enjoy some free time to explore Aba County and experience the atmosphere of this distinctive Tibetan town.

Day 5 Aba County – Heishui County
Continue exploring Aba County in the morning and take some time to experience the local Tibetan atmosphere before departing for Heishui County.
Today’s overland journey takes you through the northern Sichuan highlands, where broad valleys, rugged mountains, Tibetan villages, and Buddhist monasteries create a constantly changing landscape.
The road winds through the plateau, offering plenty of opportunities to appreciate the remote scenery and traditional Tibetan way of life.
Arrive in Heishui County in the afternoon and check in to your hotel.
The remainder of the day is free for you to relax.

Day 6 Dagu Glacier National Park – Chengdu
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Today you will explore Dagu Glacier National Park, one of the highlights of your northern Sichuan adventure.
The scenic area is located approximately 30 km from Heishui County and is famous for its spectacular glaciers, snow-covered mountains, alpine lakes, forests, waterfalls, and diverse wildlife.
Take the sightseeing facilities into the high mountains and enjoy the dramatic contrast between the blue sky, dark forests, alpine lakes, and brilliant white glaciers.
Dagu Glacier is particularly impressive for its combination of high-altitude natural scenery and relatively accessible infrastructure, allowing visitors to experience the magnificent landscape of the Tibetan plateau without a long mountaineering expedition.
After exploring the scenic area, begin your journey back to Chengdu in the afternoon.
The drive is approximately 318 km and takes around 4 hours, depending on road and traffic conditions.
Arrive in Chengdu in the evening and conclude your Jiuzhaigou, Ruoergai Grassland and Dagu Glacier adventure.

Our prices included:
1. Entrance ticket. Our price have included the entrance ticket of Huanglong, Jiuzhaigou national park, Flower Lake, Tangke.
2. The environment protection bus of Jiuzhaigou national park.
3. Guide. An English speaking guide will be provided during the tour of Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong, also the airport transfer service in Chengdu.
4. Private car transfers during tour and airport transfer in Chengdu and Jiuzhaigou. It will be an air-conditioned vehicle.
5. Meals as schedule listed. Seven typical Chinese meals, lunch or dinner, depend on the schedule arrangement.
