Covering the area of 6640 square kilometers Ningxia Hui autonomous region is the largest Hui ethnic community in China with the population of 6.04 million people . At an altitude of 1100 meters Ningxia is the continental climate with the average annual rainfall from 190 to 70 millimeters .
Shapotou is located in the southeastern margin of the Tengger Desert in the western part of Zhongwei City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. About 38 km long, 5 km wide, 1300 to 1500 meters above sea level, with a total area of 4599.3 hectares, accounting for 3% of the total land area of Zhongwei City. It is one of the 20 key areas for sand control in the country. Shapotou includes desert, the Yellow River, mountains and oasis, with the magnificent scenery of the Northwest . There is China's largest natural sloping field . "the world's first cable" across the Yellow River .
Zhongwei Gao Temple is located in Zhongwei County North. Built in the contiguous city walls of the high platform. According to record, it was built in the Ming Yongle years (1403-1424 years), after many times of reconstruction , to the Qing Dynasty it has become a large-scale ancient buildings, showing the style of ancient buildings in Ningxia.

Day 1 Yinchuan City Tour (Lunch)
Your private tour guide will meet you at Yinchuan Airport and transfer you to your hotel in the city.
In the afternoon, begin your Yinchuan city tour with a visit to Nanguan Mosque, one of the city’s best-known Islamic landmarks. Ningxia is home to a large Hui Muslim population, and the region has developed a distinctive cultural heritage combining local traditions with Islamic influences.
Explore the mosque’s traditional architecture and learn more about the history and religious culture of the Hui people in Ningxia.
After the visit, continue exploring Yinchuan according to your schedule before returning to your hotel.

Day 2 Yinchuan – Shapotou (Approx. 208 km, 2.5 hours’ drive) (B/L)
After breakfast, drive approximately 2.5 hours from Yinchuan to Shapotou Scenic Area near Zhongwei.
Located on the southeastern edge of the Tengger Desert along the Yellow River, Shapotou is famous for its remarkable combination of desert, river and oasis landscapes. The area is home to diverse plants and wildlife and offers a fascinating contrast between the golden dunes and the green surroundings of the Yellow River.
Take a walk through the scenic area and enjoy the vast desert scenery. You may see camels crossing the dunes, with the sound of their bells adding to the distinctive atmosphere of the desert.
For an additional fee, you can choose from a variety of optional activities, depending on the season and local operating conditions, such as Yellow River rafting, camel riding and sand skiing.
Enjoy the desert scenery in the late afternoon and, weather permitting, admire the beautiful sunset over the dunes.
Overnight: Zhongwei
Day 3 Zhongwei – Gaomiao Temple – Yinchuan (B/L)
Enjoy a relaxed morning in Zhongwei and take some time to experience the desert landscape around Shapotou before returning to the city.
Later, visit Zhongwei Gaomiao Temple, a historic temple complex in central Zhongwei. With a history dating back several centuries and surviving through the Qing Dynasty and later periods, the temple is known for its distinctive architecture and the combination of Buddhist, Taoist and folk religious traditions.
Explore the traditional halls, courtyards and decorative details while learning more about the religious and architectural heritage of Ningxia.
After lunch, drive back to Yinchuan. Arrive in the afternoon and check in to your hotel.

Day 4 Yinchuan Departure (B)
After breakfast, your guide will transfer you to Yinchuan Hedong International Airport according to your flight schedule.
