Sand lake located in Pingluo County, 56 Kilometers north of Yinchuan City and 20 Kilometers from Shizuishan City, Sand Lake’s surface covers 85.10 square kilometers area. Including 62.16 square kilomerts of land and 20.2 square kilometers of water. The average depth of the lake is 2.2 meters; itsdeepest point is 4 meters. Moving dunes cover 12.74 squares kilometers. In 2007 The China Tourism Administration designated Sand Lake a 5A Scenic Spot. The combination of water and sand makes Sand Lake a uniquely beautiful spot. It is also rich in natural resources, including sand dunes, reeds, birds, fish, and lotuses.
Occupying an area of some 50 km2 , the Western Xia Tombs at the foot of the Helan Mountains in Ningxia . Nine imperial mausoleums and 250 tombs of imperial relatives and officials are included . This place lies some 40 km westward from capital city of the Western Xia Regime . The Xingqing Fu(兴庆府) or Xingqing, what is modern-day Yinchuan, capital of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.
Shapotou is located in the southeastern margin of the Tengger Desert in the western part of Zhongwei City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. About 38 km long, 5 km wide, 1300 to 1500 meters above sea level, with a total area of 4599.3 hectares, accounting for 3% of the total land area of Zhongwei City. It is one of the 20 key areas for sand control in the country. Shapotou includes desert, the Yellow River, mountains and oasis, with the magnificent scenery of the Northwest . There is China's largest natural sloping field . "the world's first cable" across the Yellow River .
Zhongwei Gao Temple is located in Zhongwei County North. Built in the contiguous city walls of the high platform. According to record, it was built in the Ming Yongle years (1403-1424 years), after many times of reconstruction , to the Qing Dynasty it has become a large-scale ancient buildings, showing the style of ancient buildings in Ningxia.

Day 1 Yinchuan City & Mosque (Lunch)
Your Ningxia tour begins in Yinchuan today. Upon arrival at Yinchuan Airport, your private tour guide from China Exploration will meet you and transfer you to the city.
Begin with a visit to a local mosque, where you can learn about the history and traditions of Islam in Ningxia. As the capital of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, Yinchuan has a strong Hui cultural heritage, making the mosque visit a good introduction to the region’s diverse cultural traditions.
After sightseeing, your guide will transfer you to your hotel. Enjoy a relaxing evening and prepare for the following days of sightseeing.
Overnight: Yinchuan
Day 2 Yinchuan – Shahu Lake – Yinchuan (B/L)
After breakfast, your guide will pick you up from your hotel and drive to Shahu Lake (Sand Lake) in Pingluo County, approximately 1 hour from Yinchuan.
Shahu Lake is a unique combination of lake, wetland and desert landscapes. The vast lake and surrounding reeds provide an important habitat for migratory and resident birds, making the area particularly attractive to nature lovers and photographers.
Take a leisurely walk around the scenic area and enjoy the contrast between sparkling water, golden sand dunes and green vegetation. Depending on the season, you may see various species of birds around the lake.
The scenic area also features gardens, desert landscapes and themed attractions. Take your time to enjoy the peaceful scenery and capture some memorable photographs.
In the late afternoon, drive back to Yinchuan and return to your hotel.

Day 3 Yinchuan – Western Xia Tombs – Zhenbeibao Western Film City – Yinchuan (B/L)
After breakfast, drive from Yinchuan to the Western Xia Tombs, located at the foot of the Helan Mountains. The journey takes approximately 40–60 minutes depending on traffic.
The Western Xia Tombs are the burial complex of rulers and members of the royal family of the Western Xia (Xixia) Kingdom, which flourished in northwestern China between the 11th and 13th centuries. The large earthen burial mounds spread across the open landscape, creating a distinctive historical scene often compared with pyramids.
Explore the museum and archaeological remains to learn about the history and culture of the Western Xia Kingdom, which developed through interactions among different cultural traditions, including Buddhism, Han Chinese culture and the region’s nomadic and tribal traditions.
For lunch, enjoy a selection of Ningxia and northwestern Chinese specialties. Local lamb dishes are particularly well known, and you can sample traditional preparations such as steamed or boiled lamb.
In the afternoon, continue to Zhenbeibao Western Film City, one of China’s best-known film and television shooting locations. Built around old frontier fortifications and traditional-style sets, the film city has been used for numerous Chinese productions.
Explore the Ming and Qing-style film sets, old streets and courtyards, and famous movie locations. You can also dress up in period costumes and take photographs to recreate scenes from classic Chinese films.
In the late afternoon, return to Yinchuan.

Day 4 Yinchuan – Shapotou – Zhongwei (B/L)
After breakfast, drive approximately 2.5 hours from Yinchuan to Shapotou Scenic Area near Zhongwei.
Located along the Yellow River at the southeastern edge of the Tengger Desert, Shapotou is famous for its unusual combination of desert, river and grassland landscapes. The contrast between the golden dunes and the flowing Yellow River creates one of Ningxia’s most distinctive natural scenes.
Take a walk through the scenic area and enjoy views of the vast desert and winding river. You may also see camel caravans crossing the dunes, creating a classic desert scene.
Depending on the season and local conditions, you can experience activities such as camel riding and other desert experiences. The late afternoon is a particularly beautiful time to enjoy the changing colors of the desert landscape and, weather permitting, the sunset.
After the visit, transfer to Zhongwei and check in to your hotel.

Day 5 Zhongwei – Gaomiao Temple – Yinchuan (B/L)
In the morning, visit Zhongwei Gaomiao Temple (High Temple), located in the center of Zhongwei.
This historic temple complex is known for its distinctive architectural style and combination of Buddhist, Taoist and folk religious traditions. Explore the halls, courtyards and traditional buildings while learning about the diverse religious culture that developed in northwestern China.
The temple’s architecture and decorative details provide excellent opportunities for photography. After the visit, enjoy some local Zhongwei snacks and Ningxia specialties before beginning the journey back to Yinchuan.
In the late afternoon, arrive in Yinchuan and check in to your hotel.

Day 6 Yinchuan – Airport (B)
After breakfast, your guide will transfer you to Yinchuan Hedong International Airport according to your flight schedule.
