Western Xia Tombs One Day Tour
Yinchuan is the capital of Ningxia Mulism Autonomous Region, and former capital of the Western Xia Empire of the Tanguts. The name literally means "Silver River". The city's attractions include the Sand-lake and the Western Xia tombs.
There are two pagodas in Yinchuan that are part of the 'Eight Famous Scenery of Ningxia': one is the Haibao Pagoda in the northern suburb and the other is the Chengtiansi Pagoda in the west. It is also possible to see parts of the Great Wall which are located near the city.
Occupying an area of some 50 km2 , the Western Xia Tombs at the foot of the Helan Mountains in the Ningxia includes nine imperial mausoleums and 250 tombs of imperial relatives and officials. This burial complex lies some 40 km westward from capital city of the Western Xia, the Xingqing Fu or Xingqing, what is modern-day Yinchuan, capital of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.

Your guide in Yinchuan will pick-up you at hotel, and then head for Sand Lake in about 1 hours’ driving, about 56kms north to Yinchuan, where you can see millions of seasonal birds, like swans, sea-gulls, white cranes and so on. It is a good place for birding! Then you can visit the lotus garden, which covers ten thousand mu . The river here where you will enjoy the pyramid and the sphinx by some sand sculptors and the silk road where you can view the landform of desert.
After lunch, you will drive to Xixia Tombs , and the wide spreading landscape of Yinchuan Plain will not make the tour boring. It is one of the largest in scale and the most complete emperor tomb in China – the Western Xia Tomb, which has the reputation of “the mystery of miracle” and “the Eastern Pyramid”. And it is also the site you can know the culture and history of Western Xia in depth.
In the late afternoon your guide will send you back hotel, and your tour in Yinchuan is finished.
