Xining is located on the eastern edge of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and the upper reaches of Huangshui River. It is the political, economic, scientific and technological, cultural and traffic center of Qinghai Province with an average altitude of over 2,200 meters (about 7,217 feet). The activities of human beings in this region can be traced to 2,100 years ago.
During the Western and Eastern Han Dynasties, owing to its developing agriculture, Xining was paid more attention due to its economic and martial significance. As well as being the important hinge between the central plains and the western part of China in ancient time, Xining was the most common passing channel of the famous Silk Road. Until now, it is still the only road by which to enter the hinterland of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
Qinghai Lake is a saline lake situated in the province of Qinghai, and is the largest lake in China. Qinghai and Kokonor both mean "Blue/Teal Sea" in Standard Mandarin and Mongolian. It is located about 100 kilometers (62 mi) west of the provincial capital of Xining at 3,205 m (10,515 feet) above sea level in a depression of the Tibetan Plateau in the traditional Tibetan province of Amdo. Twenty-three rivers and streams empty into Qinghai Lake, most of them seasonal. Five permanent streams provide 80% of total influx.
Ta'er Lamasery derives its name from the Golden-roofed Lamasery's silver tower built in memory of Zongkaba,the founder of Huangjiao (the YellowSection). The silver tower is called 'Gunbenxianbalin', inTibetan, meaning "a Maitreya Lamasery where 100000 lions roar at a Buddha Portrait."Ta'er Lamasery is located in the Lianhuashan (Lotus) Mountain Valley in the southwest ofLusha'er Township in Huangzhong County.It is the most important sight-seeing sport of Qinghai and one of the cultural relics under thestate protection

D1 Qinghai Lake
Upon arrival at Xining Airport, your local guide and driver will meet you and drive you to Qinghai Lake, approximately 2–3 hours away, depending on your arrival time and traffic conditions.
Qinghai Lake, known as Qinghai Hu in Chinese, is named after its vast blue waters and is one of the most spectacular natural landscapes on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Located in northeastern Qinghai Province, it is China’s largest inland saltwater lake, with a surface elevation of about 3,200 meters. The lake is surrounded by mountains and vast alpine grasslands, creating a dramatic landscape of blue water, green pastures and distant snow-capped peaks. (数据服务栏目)
Enjoy a leisurely walk along the lakeshore and take in the magnificent highland scenery. In summer, the surrounding grasslands become lush and colorful, while fields of rapeseed flowers add bright yellow tones to the landscape. The flowering season generally falls between June and August, making summer an especially attractive time to visit Qinghai Lake. (Hainan Zhou Government)
Qinghai Lake is also an important habitat for migratory birds and other highland wildlife. Its unique ecosystem, vast open landscape and surrounding Tibetan cultural heritage make it one of the highlights of a trip to Qinghai.
After sightseeing around Qinghai Lake, drive back toward Xining and continue to Tongren, where you will check in to your hotel for the night.

D2 Ta’er Monastery & Transfer to Tongren
After breakfast, your guide and driver will take you to Ta’er Monastery, one of the most important Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in Qinghai. Located in Huangzhong District, approximately 25 kilometers southwest of Xining, the monastery is an important center of Tibetan Buddhist culture and is one of the most famous religious sites in Qinghai. Take your time exploring the monastery complex and admire its traditional Tibetan and Chinese architectural features. Your guide will introduce you to the history of the monastery, Tibetan Buddhist traditions and its importance in the religious and cultural history of the region.
After the visit, continue by private vehicle to Tongren, a historic town known for its strong Tibetan cultural heritage and traditional Buddhist art.
Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and have the rest of the evening free to relax or explore the local area.

D3 Wutun Temple & Tibetan Buddhist Art
After breakfast, visit Wutun Temple, one of the most fascinating cultural attractions in Tongren. The temple has a history of more than 600 years and is particularly famous for its remarkable collection of Tibetan Buddhist artworks.
Wutun is renowned for its traditional Thangka paintings, murals, sculptures and other Buddhist artworks. The intricate details, vivid colors and highly developed artistic techniques reflect the distinctive artistic traditions of the Tongren region.
Walk through the temple complex and learn about the connection between Tibetan Buddhism and local art. This visit offers a deeper cultural experience beyond the major monasteries and allows you to appreciate the artistic heritage that has developed in southern Qinghai over centuries.
After visiting Wutun Temple, return to your hotel in Tongren for the night.

D4 Tongren – Xining & Dongguan Mosque
After breakfast, leave Tongren and drive back to Xining. Upon arrival, visit Dongguan Mosque, one of the most important Islamic landmarks in Xining and one of the best-known mosques in Qinghai.
Dongguan Mosque has a long history and has been rebuilt and renovated several times. Its architecture combines traditional Chinese architectural elements with Islamic features, creating a distinctive style that reflects the cultural diversity of Xining.
Explore the mosque complex and learn about the history of Islam and the Hui Muslim community in Qinghai. The visit provides an interesting contrast to the Tibetan Buddhist sites you have experienced during the previous days.
After the visit, check in to your hotel in Xining and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.
