Malinghe River Gorge Scenic Area Situated in Xingyi of western Guizhou Province, the scenic area is divided into three sections - the Malinghe Gorges, the Wanfeng Forest, and the Wanfeng Lake. The Malinghe Gorges are located in the northeastern part of the scenic area. Falls somersault from the hilltops along the valley and there are various Karst caves behind the falls or in the cliffs. Lush, subtropical plants cover the riversides. The Malinghe River is a tributary of the Nanpanjiang River and runs through the gorges. Along the river, scenic spots include the Chelang Hot Spring, the Colourful Corridor, the Tianxing Gallery and the Zhaojiadu ferry crossing. The winding river roars through the gorges and is a perfect place for white-water rafting.

As a national scenic spot, Malinghe gorge is 3 miles east of Xinyi city. The Malinghe river originates from the Baiguo ridge of Wumeng mountain, it has a total length of more than 60 miles with a great drop of water. It cuts the eastern plateau of Xinyi into a grand canyon, hence Malinhe gorge.   

Malinghe gorge is regarded as the most beautiful scar in th world by some travelers. I myself think it's even more beautiful than Huangguoshu waterfall. I think Huangguoshuo waterfall is spectacular and grand, Malinghe gorge is awesome, you can't imagine the power of the mother nature.

The most beautiful part of the gorge is Tian Xing Hua Lang-Heavenly star gallery which is about 2kms long with a average depth of 200 meters, lot of cascades make the grand canyon a stunning picture. Tourists need to walk down to the bottom of the canyon, then walk along the gorge, finally climp up through another gate, the total trip for sightseeing Xian Xing Hua Lang is about 2 and half hours, remember to wear hiking shoes good for walking. Now there is a cable car, you may pay the extra money to take the cable car if you don't want to walk, many travel agencies' price does not include the cable car.

In general, Malinghe gorge is a must visit site when you are in Xingyi. It only takes about 8 minutes to drive from the Aviation Hotel in the city. The best season to visit it is from April to September, the cascades are much bigger in June and July, but be sure to take care when walking along the gorge, because the river is too big and dangerous.
