Huangshan Mountain National Park
Huangshan (Yellow Mountain) Tour – China's Most Beautiful Mountain

Huangshan (Yellow Mountain), located in Anhui Province in eastern China, is one of China's most iconic natural wonders and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Renowned as the "No. 1 Mountain Under Heaven," Huangshan is famous for its Four Wonders: extraordinary pine trees, fantastic granite peaks, breathtaking seas of clouds, and crystal-clear hot springs.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site

Recognized as both a UNESCO Natural and Cultural World Heritage Site in 1990, Huangshan has inspired countless poets, painters, and travelers for over a thousand years. The famous Ming Dynasty traveler Xu Xiake praised it by saying, "After visiting the Five Great Mountains, you need not see any other mountains; after seeing Huangshan, even the Five Great Mountains lose their charm."

Spectacular Mountain Scenery

Huangshan covers approximately 1,200 square kilometers, with its core scenic area spanning 154 square kilometers. The mountain range features 72 named peaks, including the famous Lotus Peak (1,864 m), Bright Summit (1,860 m), and Celestial Capital Peak (1,829 m).

Its granite landscape has been sculpted by millions of years of erosion into dramatic cliffs, towering pillars, deep valleys, and uniquely shaped rocks, many of which have imaginative names inspired by their appearance.

The Four Wonders of Huangshan

- Odd-shaped Pine Trees – Ancient pines cling dramatically to steep granite cliffs.
- Grotesque Rock Formations – Nature has created remarkable rock shapes resembling animals, people, and legendary figures.
- Sea of Clouds – Floating clouds often blanket the valleys, creating a magical landscape where mountain peaks appear like islands in the sky.
- Hot Springs – Natural mineral-rich hot springs at the foot of the mountain provide a relaxing experience after hiking.

Beautiful in Every Season

Huangshan offers stunning scenery throughout the year.

- Spring: Blossoming flowers cover the mountainsides with vibrant colors.
- Summer: Lush green forests, cool temperatures, and refreshing mountain streams make it a perfect escape from the heat.
- Autumn: Maple forests turn brilliant shades of red, orange, and gold.
- Winter: Snow-covered peaks, frosted pine trees, and sparkling ice create a fairy-tale landscape.

Every season offers unique photographic opportunities and unforgettable hiking experiences.

Rich Biodiversity

Thanks to its varied elevation and humid climate, Huangshan is home to over 1,500 plant species and numerous rare trees and flowers. Visitors can find ancient pines, ginkgo trees, camellias, magnolias, orchids, rhododendrons, and valuable medicinal herbs. The mountain is also famous for producing the premium Huangshan Maofeng Tea, one of China's finest green teas.

Main Scenic Areas
The most popular attractions within Huangshan Scenic Area include:

- Hot Spring Scenic Area
- Jade Screen Scenic Area
- North Sea Scenic Area
- West Sea Grand Canyon
- Cloud Valley Scenic Area
- Pine Valley Scenic Area

Each area offers spectacular hiking trails, panoramic viewpoints, and unforgettable mountain scenery.

Climate and Best Time to Visit

Huangshan enjoys a mild mountain climate all year.

- Spring (March–May): Pleasant temperatures and blooming flowers.
- Summer (June–August): Cool mountain weather, ideal for escaping the summer heat.
- Autumn (September–November): Clear skies and colorful foliage make this the best hiking season.
- Winter (December–February): Snow-covered landscapes create one of China's most spectacular winter scenes.

Because temperatures vary with elevation, visitors should bring layers, even during summer.

Why Visit Huangshan?

Huangshan is more than just a mountain—it is one of China's greatest natural treasures. Whether you are a photographer, hiker, nature lover, or cultural traveler, Yellow Mountain offers unforgettable landscapes, rich biodiversity, and centuries of history and inspiration.

Discover the timeless beauty of Huangshan with China Exploration and experience one of the world's most breathtaking mountain landscapes.
