Jinsha Site Ruins is located in Jinsha Village,west Chengdu city, with a distribution area of about 5 square kilometers. It is the capital of the ancient Shu Kingdom —— in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River from the 12th century BC to the 7th century BC (about 3200-2600 BC). The Jinsha ruin showed us the glory of the ancient Shu kingdom. Main cultural remains of gold, copper, jade, ware, stone, ivory, lacquer and other precious cultural relics were discovered, more than 5000 pieces, and tens of thousands of pottery, tons of ivory and thousands of wild boar and antlers too.

 
Gold Sun Birds
    More than 30 pieces of gold ware were discovered in Jinsha site ruins, including gold masks, gold belts, round gold ornaments, and so on. The most famous of these is the gold sun bird. The outer diameter of this gold jewelry is 12.5 cm, the inner diameter is 5.29 cm, the thickness is 0.02 cm, and the weight is 20 grams. The whole device is round and the body is extremely thin. Pattern with hollow out way, inside and outside two layers, the inner layer is a circle, distributing around 12 rotating light, outer pattern around the inner pattern, composed of four birds flying around. The device reproduces the myths, reflecting the strong worship of the sun and birds.
     According to the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, the "sun bird pattern" expresses the sincere pursuit of light, unity, harmony and inclusiveness, extremely aesthetic, and it is the ancient people's philosophy of "the unity of man and nature”.  On August 16,2005, the golden  "Sunbird" jewelry officially became the symbol of Chinese cultural heritage. From October 12 to October 17,2005, the "Sun bird" was carried in the Chinese spacecraft of Shenzhou VI to space after returning to earth.
