Xinwen Stone Sea-Global Geo Park
Xinwen Global Geo Park, or Xinwen Stone Forest is located in Xinwen county, Yibin city of Sichuan province. It is belong to the transitional area of South mountain of Sichuan Basin to Plateau of Yunnan and Guizhou. The limestone is widely spreaded in this global geo park, and its special geographical location, geological structure, climate and environment built the Xinwen style Karst terrain. It is also the earliest place of finding and studying doline in China as well as one of the typical areas of studying Karst landscape in Southwest China.
Various geosphere of carbonates varied from 250 million to 490 million years ago are well reserved here, and it possess rich fossils of archaea and sedimentations. It is said rich geological ruins, various beautiful natural scenes and ancient historical culture can be founded in this Stone Forest Park.. In this wide rock sea, Caves crisscrossed, sinkholes scattered everywhere, stone forest posed gracefully, and magnificent canyons, elegant waterfalls , rippling lakes can be found. Further more, many kind of geological ruins, unique culture and history of Bo people, and collorful culture of Miao people composed a perfect picture of natural mountain and river.
The Gobal Geo Park are mainly built by the largest doline in the world, The longest Karst Cave of Tianquan Cave, Great Stone Sea and The First Stone Tiger under the sky.
Tianquan Cave
Tianquan Cave is the most known cave among the cave group in Xinwen, and it is formed about 3 million archaea years ago. The Tianquan Cave has occupied the top list of the world in its space and length , and it was explored as 10.5 kms in length till now. Waterfall, rock waterfall, rock terrace, tock bamboo shoot, stalactite, underground river, all can be found in this cave.
Rock Sea
The Rock sea extended 10 kms away from east to west, and 4 kms from South to North. The stone peaks piled in the south, odd style stone overlapped in the east, and dense stone forest covered in the west and north. And the Peak of Couple stand just like a couple with hand in hand, heart in heart.
The largest Sinkhole in the world. The huge sinkhole is about 650 meters in long diameter, and 490 in short diameter, and 208 in depth. It is almost two times of American Arecibo. It is impressive in outlook , and jade-green bamboo and tree, weird stone covered its bottom. It is the earliest place of discovering sinkhole as well as studying in China.
The folklore of Bo people
Bo people is an ethnic minority full of legend although it has been disappeared about 500 years. A lot of ruins are still reserved in the Global Geo Park, such as Cliff Coffin, Bo Tombs, Linxiao ancient town, Stone Marks, bronze drum, etc.
Folklore of Miao people
As the largest county of Miao people inhabited, about 450,000 miao people lived in Xinwen, and occupied 11% of its population.
