Upon arrival in Suzhou, your private guide and driver will meet you and begin your Suzhou day tour with a visit to the Master of the Nets Garden (Wangshi Garden), one of the finest examples of classical Suzhou gardens. Originally built during the Southern Song Dynasty and later renovated during the Qing Dynasty, the garden is renowned for its elegant layout, delicate architecture, and harmonious combination of ponds, rockeries, pavilions, and plants.
Next, explore the historic Suzhou Ancient City Wall and take in views of the Grand Canal, one of the world’s longest and oldest artificial waterways. The canal has played an important role in transportation, trade, and cultural exchange between northern and southern China for centuries.
You will then visit a local silk factory to learn about China’s long-standing silk-making tradition. See how silk cocoons are processed and spun into fine silk products, and discover why Suzhou has been one of China’s most important centers of silk production.
After lunch, travel to Zhouzhuang Water Town, one of the most famous historic water towns near Suzhou. With its traditional whitewashed houses, stone bridges, narrow lanes, and canals, Zhouzhuang offers a charming glimpse into the traditional lifestyle of the Jiangnan region.
The highlight of the afternoon is a relaxing gondola-style boat cruise through Zhouzhuang’s waterways. Sit back as your boat passes beneath ancient stone bridges and alongside traditional riverside houses, offering a different perspective of this picturesque water town.
