Your private guide and driver will meet you at your hotel in Kunming in the morning and begin your journey to the famous Stone Forest (Shilin), one of Yunnan’s most impressive natural landscapes.
Covering a vast area of dramatic limestone formations, the Stone Forest features thousands of towering rock pillars, peaks and cliffs in a remarkable variety of shapes. Walking along the scenic paths, you will see natural rock formations rising from the landscape like a vast stone labyrinth. The spectacular karst scenery has made the Stone Forest one of the best-known natural attractions in Yunnan.
The area is also home to the Sani people, a branch of the Yi ethnic group. During your visit, explore the villages and countryside around the Stone Forest and learn more about the local way of life and traditional culture. Depending on the day’s arrangements, you may have the opportunity to experience traditional Sani songs, dances, costumes and folk customs.
After sightseeing, continue by private vehicle to Dongchuan, a rural area northeast of Kunming famous for its striking red-earth landscapes. Upon arrival, check in to your local accommodation and enjoy dinner.

Today is dedicated to exploring the spectacular Dongchuan Red Land, one of the most photogenic rural landscapes in Yunnan.
The area’s distinctive red and purple soil contrasts beautifully with green crops, golden fields and seasonal flowers. Seen from the surrounding hills, the patchwork of farmland resembles a giant natural palette, with different colors changing according to the season, weather and light.
Travel through the countryside and visit scenic viewpoints overlooking the rolling hills, agricultural fields and traditional villages. You will also have opportunities to observe local farmers working in the fields and experience the peaceful rhythm of rural life in Yunnan.
For photography enthusiasts, the changing light throughout the day creates excellent opportunities for landscape photography. If weather conditions are suitable, enjoy the warm evening light over the red-earth hills before returning to your accommodation for dinner.

Rise early this morning for a final opportunity to photograph Dongchuan Red Land at sunrise. As the morning light spreads across the hills, the red earth and cultivated fields take on changing shades of red, orange and gold.
After breakfast, continue exploring the countryside or visit additional viewpoints according to the season and weather conditions. Your guide can adjust the sightseeing schedule to make the most of the available light and local scenery.
After lunch, drive back to Kunming. Upon arrival, your driver will transfer you to your hotel or another agreed location, marking the end of your 3-day Kunming, Stone Forest and Dongchuan Red Land tour.
