D1. Kunming – Stone Forest – Xishan Hill | About 3 Hours’ Driving
Your Yunnan tour begins in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province. Upon arrival in the morning, your local guide will meet you and drive you to the spectacular Stone Forest, approximately 1.5 hours from Kunming.
The Stone Forest is famous for its extraordinary limestone formations, with towering stone pillars, peaks, and narrow passages creating a remarkable karst landscape. As you walk through the scenic area, your guide will introduce you to the geological features of the Stone Forest as well as the fascinating legend of Ashima, one of the best-known stories associated with the local Yi people.
In the afternoon, return to Kunming and continue to Xishan (Western Hills). Climb the hillside to enjoy panoramic views over Kunming and Dianchi Lake, one of the largest freshwater lakes in Yunnan.
Along the way, discover traditional pavilions, historic sites, and inscriptions that reflect the region’s cultural heritage.
Return to Kunming in the evening and stay overnight.
D2. Kunming – Dali | About 2 Hours by High-Speed Train
In the morning, take a high-speed train from Kunming to Dali, a journey of approximately two hours. Enjoy the changing scenery of mountains, valleys, and highland landscapes through the train window.
Upon arrival, your local guide will meet you and take you to Chongsheng Temple and the Three Pagodas, one of Dali’s most famous historical landmarks. The three ancient pagodas have stood for centuries and provide an excellent introduction to the area’s long Buddhist tradition. The site also offers beautiful views toward Erhai Lake and the surrounding Cangshan Mountains.
In the late afternoon, explore Dali Ancient Town on foot. Stroll along its historic streets and discover traditional Bai-style houses, courtyards, small churches, handicraft shops, cafés, and local restaurants.
It is a pleasant place to browse for souvenirs and sample local Bai cuisine before returning to your hotel.
Stay overnight in Dali.
D3. Dali – Shuanglang – Shaxi – Lijiang | About 4 Hours’ Driving
In the morning, travel to Shuanglang Ancient Town, located on the northeastern shore of Erhai Lake. Shuanglang is one of the best places around Erhai to enjoy the lake and surrounding mountain scenery.
Take a relaxing walk along the lakeside and explore the town’s artistic atmosphere. The area is also known for distinctive lakeside residences and buildings associated with local artists, including the famous Sun Palace and Moon Palace.
Continue to Shaxi Ancient Town, approximately two hours from Dali. Once an important stop on the ancient Tea Horse Road, Shaxi retains a peaceful atmosphere, traditional stone-paved streets, old courtyard houses, and historic market spaces.
Take a leisurely walk through the old town and imagine the caravans that once passed through Shaxi carrying tea, horses, and other goods between Yunnan and Tibet.
You can relax at a traditional teahouse or café and simply enjoy the slower pace of this charming historic town.
In the late afternoon, continue driving to Lijiang and stay overnight in a comfortable guesthouse in Shuhe Ancient Town, a quieter alternative to the busier center of Lijiang.
D4. Lijiang Tour | Jade Dragon Snow Mountain & Baisha Village
In the morning, drive approximately 30 minutes from Lijiang to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Depending on weather conditions and the operation of the cable cars, your guide will arrange a visit to either Yunshanping (Spruce Meadow) or Yak Meadow.
Take the cable car up into the mountains and enjoy spectacular views of snow-covered peaks, alpine meadows, forests, and valleys. On a clear day, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain provides some of the most impressive scenery around Lijiang.
In the afternoon, visit Baisha Village, one of the historic settlements associated with the Naxi people. Compared with the busy tourist center of Lijiang, Baisha retains a more traditional village atmosphere.
Explore its old streets and traditional houses while learning about the history and culture of the Naxi people. Baisha is also known for its traditional embroidery and local handicrafts.
In the evening, visit Lijiang Old Town, also known as Dayan Old Town. The evening is an ideal time to explore its maze-like streets, stone bridges, waterways, shops, restaurants, cafés, and bars.
Return to your accommodation in Shuhe for the night.
D5. Lijiang – Tiger Leaping Gorge – Shangri-La | About 4 Hours’ Driving
Leave Lijiang in the morning and drive approximately two hours to Tiger Leaping Gorge, one of the most spectacular river gorges in Yunnan.
Here, the Jinsha River, one of the major upper sections of the Yangtze River, rushes between Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and Haba Snow Mountain, creating a dramatic landscape of towering mountains, cliffs, and powerful rapids.
Enjoy a scenic walk or hike in the gorge, depending on your preferred level of activity and local conditions. The combination of steep mountain trails, dramatic cliffs, and the roaring river makes Tiger Leaping Gorge an unforgettable experience for nature lovers and photographers.
In the late afternoon, continue your journey toward Shangri-La, approximately two hours away.
As you arrive on the Tibetan Plateau, the scenery changes to highland grasslands, mountains, and traditional Tibetan-style settlements.

D6. Shangri-La Tour | Pudacuo National Park & Songzanlin Monastery
Today, explore the natural and cultural highlights of Shangri-La.
In the morning, visit Pudacuo National Park, known for its alpine lakes, forests, meadows, and mountain landscapes. Walk along the designated trails and enjoy the peaceful scenery of the Tibetan Plateau.
In the afternoon, return to Shangri-La and visit Songzanlin Monastery, the largest Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Yunnan and an important center of Tibetan Buddhist culture in the region.
Explore the monastery complex and learn about Tibetan Buddhism, religious traditions, architecture, and local culture.

D3. Dali Leisure Day – Shuanglang & Erhai Lake
Today is a free day to relax and enjoy Shuanglang at your own pace.
Wake up without rushing and enjoy views of Erhai Lake from your hotel. Take a leisurely walk through the old town, stop at a lakeside café for coffee or tea, or simply sit by the water and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.
If you would like to be more active, you can rent a bicycle and explore the lakeside roads around Erhai Lake.
There is no fixed sightseeing schedule today, so you are free to spend the day however you like.

D4. Shuanglang – Shaxi Ancient Town | About 2 Hours’ Driving
After breakfast, leave Shuanglang and drive approximately two hours to Shaxi Ancient Town, a peaceful historic settlement located between Dali and Lijiang.
Shaxi was once an important stop along the ancient Tea Horse Road. Today, it is known for its quiet stone-paved streets, traditional courtyard houses, old market square, and relaxed atmosphere.
Take a slow walk through the old town and explore its traditional architecture and local shops.
Find a small teahouse or café, enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, and imagine the horse caravans that once traveled through Shaxi carrying tea and other goods.
The rest of the day is free for you to relax and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere.

D5. Shaxi – Baisha Village – Lijiang | About 2 Hours’ Driving
In the morning, continue your journey to Lijiang.
On the way, visit Baisha Village, one of the historic homes of the Naxi people. The village retains a more traditional atmosphere than the busy center of Lijiang, with old streets, traditional houses, and views toward Jade Dragon Snow Mountain.
Learn about Naxi culture and explore local handicrafts, including the traditional embroidery for which Baisha is known.
In the afternoon, continue to Lijiang and check in to your comfortable guesthouse in Shuhe Ancient Town.
Located away from the busiest parts of Lijiang, Shuhe offers a quieter setting where you can slow down and enjoy the rest of the day.

D6. Lijiang – Tiger Leaping Gorge – Lijiang | About 4 Hours’ Driving
Today, take a day trip from Lijiang to Tiger Leaping Gorge.
Drive approximately two hours to the gorge, where the Jinsha River cuts dramatically between Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and Haba Snow Mountain.
Enjoy the spectacular mountain scenery and powerful river rapids. Depending on your interests and physical condition, you can take a scenic walk along the gorge and experience its dramatic landscape up close.
After sightseeing, drive back to Lijiang in the late afternoon.
In the evening, explore Lijiang Old Town (Dayan Old Town). The old town is especially atmospheric after sunset, when its waterways, stone bridges, traditional houses, shops, restaurants, cafés, and bars become lively.
Take a relaxed evening walk through the maze-like streets before returning to your accommodation in Shuhe.
D7. Depart from Lijiang
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast and some free time in the morning, depending on your departure schedule.
