D1 Chengdu – Mount Emei – Golden Summit
Meals: Lunch, Dinner
Your guide will pick you up at your hotel in Chengdu in the early morning and accompany you to the railway station for bullet train C6301 (08:34–10:12) to Mount Emei. Upon arrival, you will take a local sightseeing bus up the mountain toward Golden Summit (Jinding).
Mount Emei is a vast and beautiful mountain, and the journey to Golden Summit offers constantly changing scenery as you ascend into the high-altitude landscape. The sightseeing bus takes more than one hour to reach the parking area at Leidongping. From there, you will walk for approximately 30 minutes to Jieyindian, the starting point for the cable car to Golden Summit.
Along the mountain trail, you may encounter some of Mount Emei’s famous monkeys. Please do not feed or approach them, as they are wild animals.
The cable car will take you quickly to Golden Summit, one of the most spectacular areas of Mount Emei. When the weather is clear, you can enjoy breathtaking views over the Sichuan Basin and, on exceptionally clear days, may even see the snow-covered peaks of Mount Gongga in the distance.
At the summit, admire the magnificent Golden Buddha statue, whose ten faces are said to look toward the ten directions. Surrounded by mountains and clouds, Golden Summit provides an unforgettable experience and is one of the highlights of a Mount Emei tour.
In the afternoon, descend Mount Emei by cable car and sightseeing bus. If time permits, you can make an optional visit to Fuhu Temple (Tiger Subduing Temple) at the foot of the mountain. This beautiful ancient Buddhist temple is known for its peaceful atmosphere, elegant architecture, and relatively low number of visitors compared with the main scenic areas.
Overnight: Local hotel in Emeishan
D2 Mount Emei – Leshan Giant Buddha – Chengdu
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
After breakfast, you will leave Mount Emei and travel by private vehicle to Leshan.
Your destination is the Leshan Giant Buddha Scenic Area, home to the world’s largest stone Buddha statue. Carved into the cliffs at the confluence of the Minjiang River, Dadu River, and Qingyi River, the Giant Buddha has watched over the rivers for more than a thousand years.
You will hike along the winding mountain trails to explore the Giant Buddha from different viewpoints. The route takes you from the upper part of the statue down toward its feet, allowing you to appreciate its enormous scale and remarkable craftsmanship.
You will also have the opportunity to see the famous natural landscape that inspired the saying “the mountain is a sleeping Buddha, and the stone Buddha sits in its heart.” The combination of the surrounding mountains, rivers, and ancient Buddhist sculpture makes Leshan one of Sichuan’s most fascinating cultural attractions.
In the late afternoon, transfer to Leshan Railway Station and take bullet train C6314 (17:51–18:50) back to Chengdu.
End of the tour upon arrival in Chengdu.
