Your day begins with an early 7:00 am pickup from your centrally located hotel in Chengdu. An early start is recommended because giant pandas are generally more active in the morning, giving you a better opportunity to observe them during their feeding and daily activities.
Meet your private driver-guide and travel approximately 1.5 hours to the renowned Dujiangyan Giant Panda Base, located near Mount Qingcheng.
Upon arrival, you will meet the local staff and take a guided tour of the panda base before starting your volunteer experience. A staff lecturer will give you a brief introduction to giant pandas, their daily lives, and the conservation work being carried out to protect this endangered species.
You will then receive gloves and protective clothing before beginning your volunteer activities. Under the supervision of the panda base staff, you will learn how to prepare food for the pandas, which may include washing and carrying fresh bamboo and fruit. Depending on the day’s volunteer program, you may also help prepare special panda cakes or bread.
Another part of the experience is helping to keep the pandas’ environment clean. You may assist staff with cleaning designated areas of the indoor and outdoor enclosures. These hands-on activities give you a better understanding of the daily care required to look after giant pandas.
One of the highlights of the experience is the opportunity to feed the pandas under the close supervision of professional staff. Watching the pandas enjoy their food at close range is an unforgettable experience for animal lovers and families.
After the morning volunteer activities, enjoy lunch at the panda base.
In the afternoon, you can take a leisurely walk around the panda base and spend more time observing and photographing the pandas. You can also watch a short educational film about giant panda conservation, learning more about their behavior, protection, and relationship with humans.
Depending on the day’s volunteer schedule, you may have the opportunity to continue your volunteer activities in the afternoon, such as helping staff clean designated panda enclosures or learning how to prepare special food for the pandas.
At the end of the experience, you will receive a volunteer certificate and a souvenir from the Dujiangyan Panda Base as a memorable reminder of your day.
Your driver will then take you back to Chengdu and drop you off at your hotel.
