Day 1 Chengdu – Mt. Mengding Tea Picking – Bifengxia Panda Base – Shangli Ancient Town

Your Sichuan adventure begins with a journey to Mt. Mengding, one of China’s most famous tea mountains. Your guide will pick you up from your Chengdu hotel and drive approximately 2 hours through the beautiful Sichuan Plain.

According to ancient Chinese tea records, tea was first cultivated on Mt. Mengding by Wu Lizhen in 43 BC. Today, seven ancient tea trees are still preserved in the Royal Tea Garden, representing thousands of years of Chinese tea culture.

Located on the way to Bifengxia, Mt. Mengding is an ideal place to experience traditional tea culture. You will hike through green tea plantations, learn about tea cultivation, join local farmers in tea picking, and discover the traditional techniques of tea processing.

In the afternoon, continue to Bifengxia Giant Panda Base, where you will visit the panda garden and observe adorable giant pandas eating, playing, and relaxing in their natural-style environment. You will also complete the registration process for the upcoming panda volunteer program.

Later, drive about 30 minutes to Shangli Ancient Town, a historic town once located along the ancient Tea Horse Road between Sichuan and Tibetan areas. After modern highways changed the transportation routes, Shangli has remained a peaceful countryside retreat, preserving its stone bridges, wooden houses, and traditional atmosphere.

Enjoy a relaxing evening walking through the old streets, drinking local tea, or photographing the charming ancient architecture.

Day 2 Bifengxia Panda Base Volunteer Experience

(Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Return to Bifengxia Panda Base in the morning and begin your unique panda volunteer experience.

Under the guidance of professional panda keepers, you will participate in daily conservation work, including cleaning panda enclosures, preparing panda food, feeding pandas, and learning about giant panda protection.

The exact volunteer activities may vary depending on the needs and arrangements of the panda base. Through this hands-on experience, you will gain a deeper understanding of panda conservation and the efforts made to protect this endangered species.

Although some tasks may require physical effort, such as cleaning and food preparation, this experience offers a rare opportunity to contribute directly to panda conservation and get closer to these beloved animals.

After completing the volunteer program in the afternoon, drive to Ya’an city. You can enjoy a relaxing walk around the city and discover local culture and daily life.

Day 3 Ya’an – Leshan Giant Buddha – Chengdu

Enjoy a peaceful morning in Ya’an before continuing your journey to Leshan Giant Buddha, one of China’s most remarkable cultural landmarks.

After approximately 2 hours’ drive through the beautiful countryside of western Sichuan, you will arrive in Leshan.

Before visiting the Giant Buddha, enjoy a special local lunch featuring Xiba Tofu Banquet, one of Sichuan’s most famous traditional cuisines. Known for its delicate texture and creative preparation methods, Xiba tofu is an essential culinary experience when visiting Leshan.

After lunch, visit the world-famous Leshan Giant Buddha, the largest stone Buddha statue in the world. Standing at the meeting point of the Minjiang River, Dadu River, and Qingyi River, the statue represents the unique Buddhist culture and artistic achievements of ancient China.

You will hike along the mountain paths, visiting Lingyun Temple first and then walking down the winding trail beside the Buddha from its head to its feet. Along the way, enjoy different perspectives of this magnificent statue and the beautiful river scenery.

Continue walking to Wuyou Temple, where you can admire the impressive collection of 500 Arhat statues.

In the late afternoon, drive back to Chengdu. Your memorable Sichuan cultural journey ends at your hotel.

1. Cost of Panda Volunteer works, including the rental of uniform and administration of local administration.
2. Entrance ticket. The entrance ticket of Mt. Mengdingshan, Bifengxia, ,Leshan Giant Buddha Statue, which included Linyun temple, Wuyou Temple and the Giant Buddha.
3. Guide. An English speaking guide will be provided, who will accompany you from the start of tour to end of tour.
4. Private Transfers during tour. Our guide and driver will pick-up you at your hotel on time and drop-off you after the tours. And an air-conditioned vehicle will be provided during the tour.
5. Meals. 5 typical Chinese meals will be arranged accordingly at local restaurant. During the meal, a glass of soft drink will be provided.
6. hotel. Provide 2 nights' accommodation, one night of guest house in Shangli and one night of 4 star hotel in Ya'an. Every two people share one room.
