Your Chengdu city tour begins with a visit to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, one of the best places to see China’s beloved giant pandas in a natural-looking environment.
Your guide will meet you at your hotel in the morning, and you will travel to the Panda Base by metro. Once there, explore the beautiful bamboo-filled enclosures and observe giant pandas as they eat bamboo, climb, play, and relax. Watching these adorable animals up close is one of the highlights of any visit to Chengdu. Be sure to have your camera ready to capture their playful and charming behavior.
After visiting the Panda Base, return to downtown Chengdu and enjoy a Sichuan-style snack lunch, giving you a chance to sample some of the city’s popular local flavors.
In the afternoon, continue to Kuanzhai Alley (Wide and Narrow Alley), a historic neighborhood dating back around 300 years. The area features well-preserved traditional architecture, atmospheric courtyards, local restaurants, teahouses, specialty shops, and cultural performances. Strolling through its old lanes offers an enjoyable introduction to Chengdu’s traditional urban culture and is also a great opportunity for photography.
After exploring Kuanzhai Alley, walk to People’s Park, one of the best places to experience the relaxed lifestyle of Chengdu locals. You may see local residents dancing, exercising, chatting with friends, or simply enjoying their leisure time.
For a truly local experience, sit down at an open-air Sichuan teahouse and enjoy a cup of tea while observing everyday life around you. The leisurely atmosphere of People’s Park offers a wonderful introduction to Chengdu’s famous slow-paced lifestyle.
In the late afternoon, your guide will accompany you back to your hotel by Uber or metro, depending on your preference and the day’s traffic conditions.
