Your Chengdu local life experience begins in the morning. Your private guide will pick you up at your hotel and take you to a local vegetable market, where you can experience one of the busiest and most authentic sides of everyday life in Chengdu.
Morning is the liveliest time at the market. Local residents come to buy fresh vegetables, meat, spices, snacks, cakes, and other ingredients for their daily meals. The colorful stalls, lively conversations, and traditional bargaining create a fascinating atmosphere and offer an excellent opportunity to observe how local people shop and interact.
After exploring the market, continue to Luodai Ancient Town, located approximately 20 km east of central Chengdu. Luodai is widely known as one of the most important Hakka cultural centers in southwestern China.
With a history dating back to the Han Dynasty, the ancient town has preserved its traditional streets, historic buildings, and distinctive Hakka heritage. According to local legend, the town’s name is connected with a belt belonging to Liu Chan, the last emperor of the Shu Han Kingdom, which was said to have fallen into a nearby octagonal well.
Take a leisurely walk along the old streets and explore traditional shops selling local snacks and handicrafts. You can also discover elements of Hakka intangible cultural heritage, including traditional New Year paintings, clay sculptures, bamboo crafts, and other handmade products.
The town is also home to several historic guild halls and assembly halls, built by people from different regions of China. These buildings reflect the migration, trade, and cultural exchanges that shaped Luodai over the centuries.
Enjoy a traditional Chinese lunch in Luodai Ancient Town before continuing your Chengdu experience.
In the afternoon, drive to Sansheng Flower Village, a popular rural destination on the outskirts of Chengdu. The area was traditionally known for agricultural production, but local communities have increasingly developed flower cultivation and tourism.
Depending on the season, you can enjoy different varieties of flowers and explore the gardens at a leisurely pace. The peaceful rural surroundings offer a pleasant contrast to the busy streets of Chengdu.
Later, continue to People’s Park, one of the best places to experience the relaxed lifestyle of Chengdu residents.
Here you can observe locals enjoying their free time, chatting with friends, playing traditional games, dancing, or simply sitting beneath the trees. You may also visit one of the park’s traditional teahouses and enjoy a cup of Sichuan tea while experiencing Chengdu’s famous slow-paced lifestyle.
In the late afternoon, your guide will transfer you back to your hotel.
