Day 1: Zhangjiajie National Forest Park – Tianzi Mountain – Yuanjiajie – Ten-Mile Natural Gallery
In the morning, head to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park and begin your hiking adventure toward Tianzi Mountain. The hike takes approximately two hours, following mountain trails through lush forests and past spectacular sandstone peaks.
Arrive at Tianzi Mountain around noon and enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding peaks from the scenic viewpoints.
In the afternoon, take the park’s sightseeing bus to Yuanjiajie, where you will continue hiking among the dramatic sandstone pillars that have made Zhangjiajie famous. The scenery here is often associated with the floating mountains featured in the movie Avatar.
After exploring Yuanjiajie on foot, descend from the mountain by the Bailong Sky Elevator. Take a sightseeing bus to the Ten-Mile Natural Gallery, a scenic valley surrounded by towering sandstone peaks. Hike approximately 3 km through the valley, enjoying the changing views of the cliffs, forests and rock formations along the way.
At the end of the trail, take the small sightseeing train out of the valley and return to your hotel in the afternoon.
Overnight in Wulingyuan
Day 2: Huangshizhai – Golden Whip Stream
In the morning, head to another entrance of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park and begin your hike to Huangshizhai (Yellow Stone Village). The uphill hike takes approximately two hours, following stone-paved mountain trails through the forest and past impressive sandstone peaks.
Arrive at Huangshizhai around noon. Explore the relatively level trails on the mountaintop and visit several scenic viewpoints overlooking the surrounding landscape. From this side of the park, you can enjoy a different perspective of Zhangjiajie’s distinctive sandstone peaks.
In the afternoon, descend from Huangshizhai by cable car and take the park shuttle bus to Golden Whip Stream. This beautiful valley is surrounded by towering cliffs and sandstone pillars, with a clear stream winding through the forest.
Spend several hours hiking along the peaceful trail beside the stream, enjoying the combination of forests, rock formations and mountain scenery.
Return to your hotel in the late afternoon.
Overnight in Zhangjiajie
Day 3: Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Hiking – Departure
In the morning, head to Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon. Begin with a walk across the famous Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge, suspended high above the canyon. The transparent floor provides spectacular views of the valley below.
After crossing the bridge, begin your hike through the Grand Canyon. Follow the trail downhill for approximately two hours, passing natural attractions such as Rainbow Square, caves and Shentanqu (God Spring Lake) while enjoying the surrounding cliffs, forests and streams.
Complete the hike around noon and exit the scenic area.
In the afternoon, transfer back to your hotel, Zhangjiajie Airport or railway station according to your onward travel schedule.
