Day 1: Arrive in Zhangjiajie
Continue by shuttle bus to Tianzi Mountain, known as the “King of the Peak Forest.” Hike for approximately one hour along the mountain trails and viewpoints. With peaks rising to around 1,250 meters, Tianzi Mountain offers impressive views of layers of mountains, unusual rock formations and deep valleys.
Day 4: Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon & Glass Bridge – Departure
Day 1: Arrive in Zhangjiajie
Arrive in Zhangjiajie directly by high-speed train or flight. Upon arrival, your private guide and driver will meet you at Zhangjiajie Airport or railway station and transfer you to your hotel.
The rest of the day is free for you to relax and prepare for the hiking adventure ahead.
Overnight in Zhangjiajie
Day 2: Zhangjiajie National Forest Park – Yuanjiajie – Kongzhong Tianyuan – Tianzi Mountain
In the morning, take the park shuttle bus to the Bailong Sky Elevator and ride the elevator up to Yuanjiajie. Follow the mountain trails and stairways for approximately 1.5 hours, including some uphill and downhill sections.
Walk along the cliffside trails and enjoy breathtaking views of Zhangjiajie’s distinctive sandstone pillars. Yuanjiajie is particularly famous for its spectacular landscapes, which are often associated with the floating mountains depicted in the movie Avatar.
After exploring Yuanjiajie, take the Bailong Sky Elevator back down the mountain. Then continue to Kongzhong Tianyuan (Sky Field Garden). A hike of approximately one hour, including uphill and downhill sections, leads to this peaceful viewpoint.
Kongzhong Tianyuan is a small area of cultivated fields perched on a mountain outcrop and surrounded by Zhangjiajie’s characteristic sandstone peaks. The fields are traditionally cultivated by local residents and provide an unusual perspective of the surrounding landscape.
Continue by shuttle bus to Tianzi Mountain, known as the “King of the Peak Forest.” Hike for approximately one hour along the mountain trails and viewpoints. With peaks rising to around 1,250 meters, Tianzi Mountain offers impressive views of layers of mountains, unusual rock formations and deep valleys.
Finally, hike downhill for approximately 1.5 hours, mainly on stone steps and mountain trails. After reaching the foothills, take the park shuttle bus back to the entrance and transfer to your hotel.
Overnight in Zhangjiajie
Day 3: Huangshizhai – Golden Whip Stream
In the morning, visit Huangshizhai (Yellow Stone Village), one of the most famous viewing areas in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. Situated at an elevation of around 1,200 meters, Huangshizhai offers extensive panoramic views of the surrounding sandstone peaks.
Take the cable car up and down the mountain and spend approximately 1.5 hours hiking along the relatively level trails at the mountaintop. Enjoy the dramatic peaks and valleys from different viewpoints.
After the visit, drive approximately 45 minutes to the Wulingyuan Scenic Area. After lunch, enjoy a relatively flat hike along Golden Whip Stream (Jinbian Stream). The approximately 7.5-kilometer trail takes around 2.5 hours and follows a clear stream through a spectacular canyon flanked by towering cliffs and sandstone pillars.
After completing the hike, take the park shuttle bus to the exit, where your private vehicle will meet you and transfer you back to your hotel.
Overnight in Zhangjiajie
Day 4: Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon & Glass Bridge – Departure
In the morning, transfer to Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon and walk across the famous Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge, suspended between two mountains above the canyon. The bridge is approximately 375 meters long and 6 meters wide, with the canyon floor around 300 meters below at its highest point.
Crossing the transparent bridge offers spectacular views of the canyon and is an exciting experience for visitors who are comfortable with heights.
After crossing the bridge, you can choose how to descend into the canyon. For an additional fee, you may experience attractions such as the zipline or slide, or simply walk down the stairs.
Continue with approximately two hours of hiking through Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon. Along the way, enjoy dramatic cliffs, lush forests, caves, streams and other natural scenery.
Optional activities such as the zipline, slide, VR experience and elevator are not included.
After the hike, transfer to Zhangjiajie Airport or railway station for your onward journey.
