Yubeng,a small village Located in Yunling Township, Yunnan Province, as a famous and beautiful place. If you want to travel this wonderful place, you can choose walk or ride a horse for 18 kilometers and travel across Yakou for 3,700 meters , due to it's special location,there are no highways for you to get access to it at present. Moreover, Yubeng Village lies at the foot of the Wuzi Peak under the Niancimu Peak of Meilii Snow Mountain. The temperature is a little low for tourists,but with beautiful scenery and simple and honest people, Yubeng is honored as the miniature version of the real Shangri-La.
Hike is a better chioce for you,hike from Xidang to Yubeng could spend almost 4 to 6 hours depending on ability. It's about 12 km up hill and 6 km down hill. Moreover ,along the trail going up, you can find 3 rest stops each with a convenience store selling Red Bulls and instant noodles.The view is so beautiful all the way. To gauge your progress along the trail, read the number painted on nearby the utility poles.
The local villagers, as well as Tibetans of the region in general they all belong to the Zang culture, a Tibetan sub-group that is not recognized by the state as a separate ethnic minority, hold Meili Snow Mountain to be sacred, and believe that scaling the mountain will bring the wrath of God upon them. Oddly – or perhaps not so oddly, depending on your relationship to mysticism – no one has successfully scaled Meili Snow Mountain, though several teams have tried. All have given up, except for the joint Sino-Japanese team, whose members would meet their end on the mountain.
How to get:The most cost-effective and popular way to get to Yubeng is to take a bus from Shangri-la to Deqin and then,change bus to FeiLaiSi . You can Stay over night in Feilaisi,the next day, take a morning mini van to Xidang Hike or ride a donkey from Xidang to Yubeng.This mysterious village,waiting for your exploration!
