Dali City
Dali, a beatiful city in Yunnan, China, located northwest of the Yunnan Province, 300 kilometers (186 miles) northwest of Kunming. This City is the economic and cultural center of the Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture. Due to it's special location,is surrounded by mountains on the east, west, and south, also has the well-known palce named Erhai Lake in its center.
For some independent travellers and hugely popular with those studying and working in southern China, Dali is one of the most popular sightseeing . About 50 min by plane or 4-5 hrs by bus from Kunming , Dali is considered by some the perfect place to relax in southern China.
Dali is the seat of Dali Prefecture and includes Dali New City (下关 )and Dali Old Town (古城). The Old Town has a population of only 40,000 but the 10,000+ km² (3500+ mi²) prefecture as a whole holds 3 million. When discussing or travelling to "Dali", it's important to be clear which you are talking about. Xiaguan is usually where transportation to "Dali" arrives but is an standard industrial Chinese city. Tourists are usually trying to get to the Old Town, which is famed for its traditional architecture, beautiful scenery (the dramatic Cangshan range, the expansive Erhai Lake, and small handworked fields of pleasantly varied produce), minority cultures, mostly Bai but also Yi and Hui, and nightlife.
Dali Old Town
Dali Old Town is located in the western part of Yunnan Province. It was first built in the 15th year of Hongwu of the Ming Dynasty (1382AD), covering an area of 3 square kilometers. One of the first 24 famous historical and cultural cities in China. Dali ancient city is the center of politics, economy and culture during the 500 years’ Tang and Song Dynasty. The ancient town has Yangrenjie Street, also said Foreigner street, Catholic church, Christian church and so on. It has old town, Shuanglang town, Xizhou Town, and Shaxi, etc.
Shuanglang Old Town Town
Shuanglang Old Town is located in the northeast of Erhai Lake in Dali, Yunnan province. Town is surrounded by mountains on three sides, and one side facing the Erhai lake. Shuanglang was a simple fishing village of erhai lake in the past. Many houses are built by the Erhai lake, open the window is Erhai lake, people's life is closely related to erhai lake, but with the development of the economy and tourism, many national characteristics of houes and the construction of the home stay facility are built, it is now "the first town of Erhai lake scenery". Quietness is one of the characteristics of double corridors, and then people can look at the sea and the island, which is reputated as "Penglai Fairy Island" , or mini Putuo mountain in Erhai. The famous dancer, Ms Yang Liping built two villas named "Sun Palace" and "Palace" moon here, which are once considered the most beautiful houses around Erhai lake! Biking tour around Erhai Lake is also a very pleasant thing to do, known as "the most beautiful cycling route in China".
Three Pagodas of Chong sheng Temple
The Three Pagoda Temple are located 1.5 kilometers northwest of the ancient city of Dali, opposite Cangshan mountain in the west and Erhai lake in the east, and about 1500 meters away from the foot of the mountain. The three towers consists of one big tower and two small towers. The Chihiro Tower was built from 823 AD to 859 AD. It is a typical Tang Dynasty architectural style. The tower is 69.13 meters high. The exterior outline of the two small towers in the north and south is conical, which is a typical Song Dynasty architectural style. They were built in the Zhengyan and Zhengxing periods of Dali State (1108~1172 AD). Qianxun Tower is in the middle, and the two small towers are arched in the north and south. The three towers set three functions in one, the art of building the tower peak, with a very high historical, cultural and architectural value.
Xizhou Old Town
Xizhou is one of the birthplaces of Dali culture. As early as Liuzhao and Hejian period coexist, it was where the Bai people live. Xizhou is located in the north of Dali City, with Cangshan Mountain in the west and Erhai Lake in the east. It was called "Dali City" in the Sui and Tang Dynasties. It is one of the ten eyelids "in the Nanzhao period, the hometown of the film". Five Golden Flowers " was just shot here. It is the famous historical and cultural towns in Yunnan Province and one of the key hometown of overseas Chinese.
Shaxi Old Town
Shaxi Old Town is located in the southwest of Jianchuan County, Dali, Yunnan, China, 32 kilometers away from the county seat. It borders Eryuan County in the east and is adjacent to Misha, Yangcen and annan of the county in the northwest, integrating the basin area and mountainous area. Shaxi ancient town takes the ancient Tea-Horse trading road culture as the theme, leisure tourism as the leading industry, cultural creativity as the characteristic industry, supplemented by modern agriculture with plateau characteristics, and is an ancient town of the tea-horse ancient road. In 2005, Shaxi won the UNESCO Outstanding Contribution Award for Cultural Heritage Conservation in the Asia-Pacific region. In November 2020, Shaxi Characteristic town was rated as the most beautiful town in China.
