Zhaohua Old Town
Located about 30 kilometers from Guangyuan City, Sichuan Province, Zhaohua Old Town is one of the best-preserved historical towns in Sichuan. Originally built during the Spring and Autumn Period and Warring States Period, the town was first known as Jiameng and later renamed Zhaohua during the Song Dynasty.
With its rich historical heritage from the Three Kingdoms Period, Zhaohua has become an important destination for travelers interested in ancient Chinese history, culture, and architecture.
For thousands of years, Zhaohua served as a vital military and transportation hub connecting Sichuan with central China. Confucius Temple
The Confucius Temple is one of the important cultural attractions in Zhaohua Old Town. Built to honor Confucius, the great Chinese philosopher and educator, the temple was originally constructed during the Song Dynasty and has undergone seven major renovations throughout history.
The temple reflects the long-standing influence of Confucian culture in ancient Chinese education and society.
City God Temple
The City God Temple is another historic landmark worth visiting. Originally built during the Tang Dynasty, the temple was rebuilt several times during the reigns of the Kangxi, Qianlong, Jiaqing, and Daoguang emperors of the Qing Dynasty.
Although it was damaged during the Cultural Revolution, the temple was carefully restored in 2008 on its original site, allowing visitors to experience the traditional religious and architectural atmosphere of ancient China.
Zhaohua Government Office
The Government Office of Zhaohua City offers visitors a glimpse into the administrative system of ancient China. First established during the Tang Dynasty, the complex was destroyed and rebuilt several times due to historical conflicts.
After restoration in 2008, the site now displays the complete structure of an ancient government office, including official working areas and residential spaces, providing insight into the political and social systems of past dynasties.
