The People Park
The People's Park is located at No.20 General Street, Qingyang District,
Chengdu city, Sichuan Province. It was first built in 1911. People's Park was formerly known as Shaocheng Park, meaning small city, because Chengdu was originally divided into big city and small city, Shaocheng base was built as a small town in the south of the big city in the Qing Dynasty, as a residency for Manchurian and Mongolian families and soldiers. Shaocheng Park is named because it is located in the scope of small city. In 1911, in order to solve the living difficulties of the Manchurian and Mongolian people, general Yukun in Chengdu built the park in the ancestral street, and allowed them to do some small business to make a living, also charged tickets for visitors. Since then, Chengdu has the first park in history, it is also one of the earliest parks in the whole China.
Now the People's Park is open to the public free of charge. Local people drink tea and play Majiang here with leisure, which is also a very hot place for Guangchangwu dancing. People can see many uniformed dancing teams in this park, where is extremely crowded and noisy.
