Ganzi City
Ganzi city, also called Gartze, is located in the joint of Dege, Xinlong, Seda and Shiqu, and it is the most important transporation hub as well as business center of north Kham area. And a lot of ancient monasterys also located here.
Ganzi Monastery
Ganzi Monastery is one of the largest and ancientest Gelu sect monasteries in Gartze area with history of 350 years. It takes the meaning of “White and Beautiful” in Tibetan. It is located in the city dege on the hillside. The monastery building faces south, with a building area of 197,000 square meters and an area of 285,000 square meters. The main hall is a civil structure with a ground floor and a fourth floor. It is a palace-style main pavilion with four cornices, distinct levels, extraordinary weather and a combination of Tibetan and Chinese architectural styles.
Baili Monastery
Located 10 kilometers west of Ganzi city, It is a key cultural relic protection unit in Sichuan Province
and Gelug sect monasteries of Tibetan Buddhism. Next to the temple is the Sichuan-Tibet Highway. The temple faces south and covers an area of 19,000 square meters.
The existing main temple is a Tibetan attic building. There are lecture halls, Maitreya Hall and Dharma Hall in the temple. When the Red Army passed by in 1936, the Geda Living Buddha made good friengship with Zhu De, the Chief Commander of Red Army .
Darjin Monastery
Darjin Monastery, which means prosperous and auspicious continent in Tibetan. The monastery is built around the main hall, and the layout of the whole temple building is clearly defined and orderly arranged. Dajin Temple integrates the architectural features of Han and Tibetan, and it is solemn, rich and magnificent. This temple, with a building area of 148,000 square meters, is built on the mountain. In the history of temples, there were as many as 3,000 monks. The most lively activity of Dajin Temple is that in July and August every year, the surrounding villagers will come to watch Tibetan opera, participate in singing, horse racing and dance in Guozhaung.
King Gesar Palace
The King Gesar Place is located in the South-East of Ganzi city to commemorate this great legendary hero of Tibetan people. It is a newly built tourism and culture sites mixing with museum of King Gesar and tour restaurants and bars for the convenient of people’s amusement.
