Four-day Dunhuang & Yangguan Tour
During this four day tour, you will vist not only the Mogao Grottoes, but also Singing Sands Mountain and Yangguan. This is the most classical tour in Dunhuang.
Mogao Grottoes, folk name thousand-buddha grotto. It has a history of over 1500 years and is now the largest and most abundant base of Buddhist art. It was added in the World Cultural Heritage List in 1987. Together with Yungang Grottoes (in Datong, Shanxi province), Longmen Grottoes (in Luoyang, Henan province) and Maiji Mountain Grottoes (in Tianshui, Gansu province), they are the four largest grottoes in China.
Mingshashan Mountain. it’s an area in desert where the sands make sounds. It is named because, under the human tread or wind blow, the sand produces a sound like a string instruments horn, a drum,or that of rumbling thunder. Descent Lake looks exactly like a beautiful new moon lying at the north foot of Echoing-sand Mountain. Leiyin Temple is north of Echoing-sand Mountain, built in 1991 and covering an area of 3000m2.
Yangguan scenic spot. It lays 70 kilometers southwest of Duhuang and dates back to Han dynasty (156-87 B.C.). Together with Yumenguan in the north, they form a strong defence for the country. Still, it’s the door to western refions and central Asia on the Silk Road; also a hot site in poems.

D1 Dunhuang pick-up
Your guide will meet you at Duhuang ariport or train station and take you to your hotel.
D2 Mogao Grottoes/ Singing Sands Mountain

After visiting Mogao Grottoes, you’ll be guide to Mingshashan Singing Sands Mountain. As you can see in its name, it’s an area in desert where the sands make sounds. It is named because, under the human tread or wind blow, the sand produces a sound like a string instruments horn, a drum,or that of rumbling thunder. Descent Lake looks exactly like a beautiful new moon lying at the north foot of Echoing-sand Mountain. Leiyin Temple is north of Echoing-sand Mountain, built in 1991 and covering an area of 3000m2.The original temple, it is said, was buried under the Echoing' sand Mountain in a sandstorm. Now the temple is a key center in western China open to the world for Buddhist activities.
In the late afternon, you guide will take you back to your hotel.
D3 Yangguan
This day, you’ll travel in Yangguan scenic spot. It lays 70 kilometers southwest of Duhuang and dates back to Han dynasty (156-87 B.C.). Together with Yumenguan in the north, they form a strong defence for the country. Still, it’s the door to western refions and central Asia on the Silk Road; also a hot site in poems.
D4 Home
In the morning, you’ll be sent to the ariport or train station to end your tour in Dunhuang.
