D1. Guiyang – Kaili – Xijiang Miao Village (L)
Your local guide and driver will meet you at your hotel in Guiyang in the morning and drive to Kaili, a journey of approximately 2.5 hours. From Kaili, continue to Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village, also known as the Xijiang Thousand-Household Miao Village.
Spend the day exploring this spectacular hillside Miao community with your guide. Built along the slopes of the surrounding mountains, Xijiang is one of the largest and best-known Miao communities in China and is famous for its traditional wooden houses and distinctive Miao culture.
As you walk along the village paths, you will see layer upon layer of traditional stilted wooden houses covering the hillsides. The clear Baishui River flows through the valley below, while traditional wind-and-rain bridges connect different parts of the village.
During your visit, learn about the history, customs, traditional clothing, and daily life of the Miao people. You can also enjoy a local Miao lunch and experience traditional Miao music, singing, and dancing.
In the afternoon, take some time to explore the village at your own pace. As daylight fades, the atmosphere changes dramatically. The wooden houses begin to glow under the evening lights, creating a spectacular view across the hillsides. The night scenery of Xijiang is particularly beautiful and offers excellent opportunities for photography.
