Half-day Mutianyu Great Wall Hiking tour:Trekking on the great wall will be an amazing experience for any of the visitor. China Exploration chose a few good reserved sections to meet the dream of great wall trekker.
The Great Wall of Mutianyu was built and restored in the early period of the Ming Dynasty (1368AD – 1644AD), on the foundations of a wall originally built in the Northern Qi Dynasty (550AD-577AD). The most recent restoration of this part of the Great Wall took place in the year of 1982, at the direction of the Beijing government.
Compared with other more famous sections of Great Wall around Beijing, such as Badaling and Juyongguan, Mutianyu is a little bit more rugged and slightly less crowded, despite the hundreds of thousands of tourists from home and abroad that visit daily. Famous leaders of the world have also visited this section of Great Wall, including former US President Bill Clinton and British Prime Minister John Major.
Today's hike will last totally about 2.5 hours. When getting to Mutianyu, you can choose to take the cable car or walk up to the Great Wall. In fact, walking up is not that difficult, which takes about 20 minutes. On the way up, you will see plenty of trees in the mountains, including many fruit trees, such as walnut, chestnut, apricot and apple trees.
After walking around on the Great Wall, you have the option of coming down by cable car, walking or taking the toboggan (which is highly recommended because it is great fun doing it). When meeting the driver at the parking lot, we will send you back to the hotel.
