Lijiang,a wonderful city of Yunnan.This city has a history of at least 800 years could date back to the Song Dynasty. It's one of the most famous old towns in China,and attracts many tourists from all the world.It guards the division of the Jade River into three streams, among which canals and waterways were cut to flow along the old town streets. A book by an American commissioner brought the town some fame in the 19th century and foreign tourists began to return soon after China liberalized its visa policy in the 1980s. Local people began to run the restaurants and cafes and then came to domestic and international attention following a 1996 earthquake. Amid the destruction, China's people were drawn to the lifestyle and excellent environment around Lijiang and began pouring in. Domestic movies and TV shows have made it as popular as Yunnan's reigning vacation destination Dali, although Xishuangbanna is rising as well as the other two become more commercial and expensive.
Lijiang Old Town, also known as Dayan Town, is a national historical and cultural city. Lijiang old town was built in the late Song Dynasty and early Yuan Dynasty (around late 13th century AD), and it was located in the middle of Lijiang Basin. Lijiang is China's most well-reserved and the most Naxi style ancient town. Lijiang’s location is on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau with 2416 meters above sea level. The old town occupied about 3.8 square kilometers. In December 1997, it was enlisted in the World Cultural Heritage List by the UNESCO.
The streets in the old town of Lijiang are built near snow mountains and rivers, and they are all paved with red plate of rock. Lijiang old town include Sifang Street (the Square Street), Wooden Street, Wufeng Tower Building, Black Dragon Pond, Wenchang Palace, Snow Mountain Academy, Wangjiazhuang Christian Church, White Horse Dragon Pond Temple, Peter Gu's old residence, Jinlian Temple, Puxian Temple, etc.
The ancestors of the hereditary rulers of Lijiang and the Mu family moved their government center from Baisha old town to the present Lion Hill, and began to build houses and cities, which is called "Dayan City".

Sifang street
Sifang Street, also called Square Street, is a snack street in the center of ancient city. There are dozens of small restaurants on both sides of the street. Each restaurant provides a unique Mixian, a kind of rice noodle in Yunnan, and a wide variety of them. So this street is also called "Lijiang Mixian Street". Sifang Street is the center of the ancient town of Lijiang. It is said that Lijiang Tusi, the king of Lijiang, was built in the shape of its seal. It is the most important hub station on the ancient tea-horse road. Since the Ming and Qing Dynasties, all the merchants have gathered here, and all the ethnic cultures meet and live here. Sifangjie Street was the center of economic and cultural exchanges in Lijiang. Sifang Street is an important place for the residents of the old city to carry out festival activities. At every festival, a stage is set up in the north of the street. The people of all ethnic groups would perform on 11:10-11:40 14:10-14:40 16:10-16:40 every day.
Mufu Palace
Mufu, the house of Mu family ruling Lijiang, was originally the offical building of Lijiang government. It is located at the eastern foot of the ancient city of Lion Mountain. It was built in the Yuan Dynasty (1271~1368 AD) initially, and rebuilt in 1998, now it was changed into the ancient city Museum in 1998. Mufu covers an area of 46 mu with a total of 162 rooms. The central axis of 369 meters long, Sanqing Hall, Jade building, Guangbi building, the hall, Loyalty Square from west to east arrangement. There are eleven plaques given by the emperors, reflecting the glory of the Mu family from their rise to fall in history.
White Horse Dragon Pool Temple
White Horse Dragon Pond Temple is located at No.50 Guangbi Lane, Guangyi Street. It is a Chinese Buddhist temple. The temple was built in the 19th year of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty (1754) by Fan Haoren, the governor of Lijiang, and then rebuilt by the villagers. In front of the temple is the white Horse Dragon Pool.
Black Dragon Pool
The ancient buildings of Heilongtan, means Black Dragon Pool, also known as Yuquan Park, include Dragon Temple, DeBuilding, Suocui Bridge, Jade Emperor Pavilion, Five Phonex Building, Listening Pavilion, Yiwen Pavilion, Civilization Square and other buildings. Yuquan Dragon Temple was built in the second year of Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty (1737 AD.), the seventeen year of the Qing Dynasty (1812 AD) and the fifteenth year of Guangxu (1889 AD). Yuquan was twice awarded as the "God of Dragon" by the emperor, making it a famous spring in China. Wufeng Lou, also known as Fayun Pavilion, was built in the 29th year of Wanli Emperor of the Ming Dynasty (1601 AD). It was originally built in Baisha Mountain and moved here in 1979.
The Dongba Culture Museum
Dongba Culture Museum, also known as Lijiang City Museum, is located at the north end of Black Dragon Pool. The museum collects unearthed cultural relics, historical paintings and calligraphy, revolutionary cultural relics, Dongba scriptures and religious articles

Jade Dragon Snow Mountain
Yulong Snow Mountain, also named Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, is located about 15 kilometers north of Lijiang city, 35 kilometers long from north to south and 25 kilometers wide from east to west. The snow Mountain covers an area of 960 square kilometers, with the Li (Jiang) Ming (Yin) road in the east, to the west, from Yuhu in the south, to the Great Tiger Leaping Gorge in the north. There are glacier park, spruce Plain, Ganhaizi, Yak Plain, Yufeng Temple know as Ten thousand tea trees, and other scenic spots.
Yulong Snow Mountain is known as "Olu" in the Naxi language, meaning "Sky Mountain". Its thirteen snow-capped peaks are waving like a "dragon" flying more and more, so it is called "Jade Dragon". And because of its lithology is mainly limestone and basalt, black and white clear, so it is also called "black and white snow mountain". It is the sacred mountain of the Naxi people, the legend of the Naxi.
Laojun Mountain
Laojun Mountain Scenic spot is located at the junction of three national scenic spots, Yulong Snow Mountain, Three Rivers Parallelling and Cangshan Erhai Lake. It is an important part of Yulong Snow Mountain Scenic Spot. This scenic area is mainly composed of 99 dragon pools of Laojun Mountain, Jinshan Jade Lake, Liming Meile Danxia landform, the new natural Alpine Botanical Garden and other areas (scenic spots). It has a total area of 715 square kilometers. There are indeed 99 ice-eroded lakes in Lijiang Laojun Mountain Scenic Area, and each lake presents different colors and posture. Compared with Jiuzhaigou, it has more atmosphere and less melodramatic. Especially in May and June every year, the flowers in the mountains bloom under the pure and almost transparent sky, looking from a distance, it is just like a colorful meadow. Up to now, the permanent residents of Laojun Mountain, in addition to the local people grazing in the mountains, are the lovely Yunnan golden monkeys who have thick red lips, as well as many first and second class national wild protected animals.
