Baoji China Bronze Museum
Located at the northern foothills of the Qinling Mountains and the southern bank of the Wei River in Baoji, Shaanxi Province, the Baoji Bronze Museum, also known as the China Bronze Museum, is China’s premier museum dedicated to ancient bronze civilization. As a National First-Class Museum, it specializes in collecting, preserving, researching, and exhibiting bronze artifacts from the Western Zhou and Qin dynasties.
Covering 34,800 square meters, with 15,000 square meters of exhibition space, the museum houses an extraordinary collection of more than 487,000 cultural relics, including over 120 national first-class treasures. Among its most celebrated masterpieces are the He Zun, Qiang Pan, Li Wang Hu Gui, Zhe Gong, and Qin Gong Bo, many of which are classified as national treasures that are prohibited from leaving China.

Explore the Birthplace of Chinese Bronze Culture
Baoji is widely regarded as one of the birthplaces of Chinese bronze civilization. Archaeological discoveries made throughout the region have unearthed thousands of exquisite ritual vessels, weapons, musical instruments, and ceremonial objects dating back more than 3,000 years.
The museum offers visitors a comprehensive introduction to the development of bronze craftsmanship, the political and ritual systems of ancient China, and the rise of the Qin Empire through four permanent exhibition halls.

Exhibition Hall I: The Land of Bronze Artifacts
The first exhibition introduces Baoji’s remarkable bronze heritage and explains why the city is known as the “Land of Bronze Artifacts.”
Featuring 260 carefully selected artifacts, the exhibition explores three defining characteristics of Baoji’s bronze culture:
* Abundant archaeological discoveries
* A history spanning over three millennia
* Exceptionally rich bronze inscriptions
Visitors gain an overview of the origins and significance of Chinese bronze civilization through beautifully displayed ritual vessels and historical relics.

Exhibition Hall II: Zhou Dynasty Rituals
The second exhibition examines the sophisticated ritual and political system established during the Western Zhou Dynasty, one of the foundations of traditional Chinese civilization.
Displaying 688 artifacts, this gallery explains the Zhou concepts of ancestral worship, clan organization, and social hierarchy through magnificent bronze vessels, ceremonial bells, and ritual objects.
Highlights include nationally treasured artifacts such as:
* He Zun
* Qiang Pan
* Li Wang Hu Gui
Immersive displays recreate the ceremonial life of the Western Zhou court, illustrating how ritual shaped politics, society, and culture more than 3,000 years ago.

Exhibition Hall III: The Road of Empire
This gallery traces the transformation from the decline of the Western Zhou Dynasty to the rise of the Qin State, which eventually unified China under Qin Shi Huang, the First Emperor.
Through 360 historical artifacts, visitors follow the major milestones of Qin’s development, including:
* The founding of the Qin State
* Military expansion and territorial growth
* Administrative reforms
* The emergence of imperial rule
The centerpiece is the magnificent Qin Gong Bo, one of China’s finest bronze ritual vessels, which reflects the growing power and prestige of the Qin royal family before the establishment of the Qin Empire.

Exhibition Hall IV: The Light of Wisdom
The fourth exhibition celebrates the artistic and technological achievements of ancient Chinese bronze casting.
Combining 160 bronze artifacts with interactive multimedia displays, digital presentations, and hands-on educational experiences, the gallery demonstrates every stage of bronze production, including:
* Clay mold making
* Decorative pattern carving
* Bronze casting techniques
* Finishing and polishing
Special exhibitions feature beautifully crafted bronze animal sculptures and the nationally treasured Zhe Gong ritual wine vessel, showcasing the extraordinary creativity and craftsmanship of ancient Chinese artisans.

A Must-Visit Museum in Shaanxi
The Baoji Bronze Museum offers one of the world’s finest collections of ancient Chinese bronzes, providing a fascinating journey through the origins of Chinese civilization, the ritual culture of the Zhou Dynasty, and the rise of the Qin Empire.
Often included in cultural itineraries alongside Xi’an, the Terracotta Warriors, and other historic sites in Shaanxi Province, the museum is an outstanding destination for history enthusiasts, archaeology lovers, students, and international travelers seeking a deeper understanding of China’s ancient heritage.
Whether you’re interested in archaeology, Chinese history, or world-class museum collections, the Baoji Bronze Museum offers an unforgettable exploration of one of the greatest bronze civilizations in human history.
