Jingzhou Ancient City
Jingzhou is also called Jianglin city and it is a famous historical cultural city in China. The ancient city has a history of 2,000 years. It was originally built in Qin and Han Dynasties, with the Brick city built after Five Dynasties and ruined and rebuilt several times in the Song, Yuan and Qing Dynasties.
The city walls coming into eyes today is the ones which were built according to the city walls of Ming Dynasty in the third year of the reign of Shunzhi Emperor in Qing Dynasty (AD 1646). Many scenic spots have been built along the city walls.

There are a lot of sites of the Three Kingdoms including big iron pots and mangers which were used by warriors of Guan Yu, Zhijia Mountain where soldiers threw away their weapons when general Lvmeng’s making a surprise attack on Jingzhou.
A long history leaves Jingzhou numerous ancient relics. There are over 3,000 relics preserved in Jingzhou Museum and the most famous one is the bronze sword of Goujian, a sword that was used by the king of Yue country in the period of Warring States and was excavated in north of Jingzhou in 1965. The sword was carved with diamond-shaped figures, embedded with a kallaite and three-color glass. The edge of the blade is extremely sharp.

The present city wall was rebuilt in 1646 during Qing Dynasty. The wall was built of limestone, bricks and earth. It has a circumference of 11.28 km, east and west 3.75 km long, south and north 1.2 km wide, 8.83 meters high, 4567 battlements and 26 forts, 6 soldier hideouts and 6 towers.
