Sui Tang Dynasty Luoyang Gate
Also recognized as a World Heritage Site, Dingding Gate was the main entrance to the outer city wall of Luoyang City during the Sui and Tang Dynasties, and was located along the central axis of Luoyang City. Its name was changed from Jianguo Gate, an appellation used in the early days of the Sui Dynasty, to Dingding Gate during the Tang Dynasty. Emperor Yang of Sui, who moved to Luoyang City, the one he built from scratch as the capital city, in the next year, was the first emperor to pass through the gate in history. Afterwards, Dingding Gate had been successively used as the main entrance to the outer city wall of Luoyang City during the Tang Dynasty, the Later Liang Dynasty, the Later Tang Dynasty, the Later Zhou Dynasty, and the Northern Song Dynasty till it was gradually deserted in the last years of the Northern Song Dynasty. Dingding Gate has served as the main entrance to the Southern outer city wall of Luoyang City for 530 years, thus becoming the city gate in China to serve for the longest time as an entrance to a capital city. “Silk Road: Chang'an -Tianshan Corridor”, one application program jointly submitted by China, Kazakhstan and Kyrghyzstan, was approved by UNESCO in June 2014. As a result, Dingding Gate Relic of Luoyang City from the Sui and Tang Dynasties was included in the World Heritage List as one of 22 key relic sites located within the territory of China along the corridor."More Attractions
