Haitan Island of Pingtan County
Pingtan Island, also known as Haitan Island, is the largest island in Fujian Province and the fifth-largest island in China. Located about 128 kilometers southeast of Fuzhou, it faces Taiwan Island across the Taiwan Strait and is renowned for its spectacular coastal scenery, crystal-clear waters, and unique granite rock formations. Nicknamed the “County of a Thousand Reefs,” Pingtan has become one of the top coastal destinations in southeastern China.
Covering more than 320 square kilometers, Pingtan Island features a stunning mix of rolling hills, fertile plains, dramatic sea cliffs, and over 100 kilometers of sandy beaches. With its subtropical maritime climate, refreshing sea breezes, and abundant sunshine throughout the year, the island is an ideal destination for sightseeing, beach holidays, photography, camping, and water sports.
