D1 Monte Carlo of the Far East/Guia Circuit A-Ma Temple Penha Church St. Paul's Ruins/City Center of Senado
A full day excursion to the former Portuguese colony Macau, which used to be the oldest European settlement in the Orient. The enclave was reunited with China as a Special Administrative Region in December 1999. A 60 minute Jetfoil or Catamaran journey brings you to the Monte Carlo of the Far East.
The city sightseeing begins with a drive along Guia Circuit where the Macau Grand Prix is held annually. Visit the 400 year old A-Ma Temple and Penha Church - a graceful chapel built on a hill top.
Stop at Porta do Cerco, the official land crossing point into China, for a glimpse of the Chinese Border Guards before proceeding for lunch at a local restaurant. Visit the St. Paul's Ruins, a grand imposing facade which is the ruins of an early 16th century church designed by Italians and built by Japanese Christian exiles. Walk down the picturesque cobblestone streets, past furniture shops and clothing factory outlets (for some shopping if time permits) to the main square - City Center of Senado.
You can try your luck at the gambling tables of the world famous casino in Macau before leaving the city in the late afternoon. Arrive back in Hong Kong at approximately 18:30 hours and transfer to the hotel.
