Day 1: Guiyang – Zhijin

Depart from Guiyang in the morning and drive to Zhijin, a historic town in western Guizhou. Upon arrival, visit Zhijin Cave, one of the most spectacular karst caves in China.
Zhijin Cave is renowned for its extensive and diverse karst formations, including stalactites, stalagmites, stone pillars, stone flowers and other remarkable underground features. The enormous cave chambers create the impression of a vast natural underground palace.
As you walk through the cave, you can admire the fascinating shapes created by water and limestone over millions of years. The combination of dramatic rock formations, huge chambers and underground landscapes makes Zhijin Cave one of the highlights of Guizhou’s karst scenery.
After the visit, check in at your hotel in Zhijin or Anshun and enjoy a relaxing evening.

Day 2: Zhijin – Anshun – Guiyang

In the morning, drive to Anshun to visit the spectacular Huangguoshu Waterfall, one of China’s most famous natural landmarks and the largest waterfall in China.
Huangguoshu Waterfall is approximately 77 meters high and 101 meters wide, with water cascading dramatically over a limestone cliff. The waterfall is particularly impressive during the rainy season, when the powerful flow creates a tremendous roar and clouds of mist around the falls.
The Ming Dynasty geographer Xu Xiake famously praised the waterfall after visiting the area, describing its tremendous sound and power.
Continue exploring the Huangguoshu Scenic Area, including Doupotang Waterfall and Tianxingqiao Scenic Area, where limestone formations, forests, streams, caves and waterfalls combine to create a spectacular karst landscape.
After sightseeing, drive back to Guiyang and check in at your hotel.

Day 3: Guiyang – Kaili – Jidao Miao Village – Xijiang Miao Village

In the morning, depart from Guiyang for Kaili, the cultural center of southeastern Guizhou and an excellent base for exploring the region’s Miao villages.
After a short break, visit Jidao Miao Village, located about 20 km southeast of Kaili. Compared with the larger and more developed ethnic villages, Jidao offers a quieter experience surrounded by peaceful countryside.
Walk through the village and discover its traditional Miao architecture and rural landscapes. The village is divided into Shangzhai and Xiazhai, where you can see old trees, traditional granaries and other local landmarks while learning about the legends and customs of the Miao people.
Continue to Xijiang Miao Village, one of the largest and best-known Miao communities in China. More than 1,000 traditional wooden houses are built along the hillsides, creating an impressive mountain village landscape.
Walk along the village paths and enjoy views of the traditional stilted wooden houses, the Baishui River and the covered wind-and-rain bridges crossing the waterways. You can also observe Miao traditional clothing, local customs and everyday village life.
As evening falls, Xijiang becomes particularly atmospheric. The wooden houses gradually light up across the hillsides, creating one of the most memorable night views in Guizhou.

Day 4: Kaili – Zhaoxing Dong Village

Today, leave Kaili and travel toward Zhaoxing Dong Village, one of the largest and best-preserved traditional Dong communities in Guizhou.
Zhaoxing is famous for its distinctive Dong architecture and cultural traditions. The most recognizable features of a traditional Dong village are its drum towers, wind-and-rain bridges and Dong singing.
The village’s drum towers are important architectural landmarks and traditional community spaces. Each tower has its own distinctive design and reflects the remarkable craftsmanship of Dong builders.
Take a leisurely walk through the village and cross its traditional wind-and-rain bridges. Many of these covered wooden bridges feature pavilions where local residents can rest, meet and enjoy the scenery.
Zhaoxing offers an excellent opportunity to experience the traditional architecture, village layout and cultural heritage of the Dong people.

Day 5: Zhaoxing – Congjiang – Jiabang

In the morning, continue to Congjiang, an area known for its diverse Miao and Dong communities. Today’s journey takes you to several traditional villages, including Basha Miao Village, Xiaohuang Dong Village and Huanggang Dong Village.
First, visit Basha Miao Village, a remote Miao community famous for preserving distinctive traditional customs and clothing. The village is sometimes promoted as one of China’s last communities where men traditionally carry hunting-style firearms, although modern regulations mean visitors should not assume these are used as weapons.
Experience the village’s traditional architecture and cultural performances. Depending on the schedule, you may see a Lusheng performance, a Miao welcoming ceremony or other local cultural activities. Optional activities may be available at an additional cost.
Continue to Xiaohuang Dong Village, a peaceful mountain community known for its traditional Dong wooden houses, drum towers and strong musical traditions. The village retains many elements of traditional Dong life and offers a quieter experience away from the region’s more heavily visited destinations.
Then visit Huanggang Dong Village, another well-preserved Dong community surrounded by green mountains. Explore the traditional houses and village lanes while learning more about Dong customs, architecture and community life.
In the afternoon, drive to Jiabang and check in at your local guesthouse.

In the morning, explore the spectacular Jiabang Rice Terraces, one of the most beautiful terraced landscapes in southeastern Guizhou.
Built by local Miao communities over generations, the terraces follow the natural contours of the mountains, forming hundreds of layers across the hillsides. Traditional villages are scattered among the rice fields, creating a harmonious landscape where farming, architecture and nature exist side by side.
The scenery changes with the seasons. In spring, the terraces can reflect the sky like mirrors; in summer, they are covered in vibrant green rice plants; and in autumn, the fields turn golden as the rice ripens.
Early morning is an especially beautiful time to visit. When mist and clouds drift across the mountains, the rice terraces take on a dreamlike atmosphere.
After sightseeing, drive toward Rongjiang and continue back to Guiyang. Upon arrival in Guiyang, your 6-day Guizhou tour comes to an end.
