Day 1: Arrival in Shangri-La | Ganden Sumtseling Monastery – Dukezong Ancient Town
Upon arrival at Shangri-La Airport or Railway Station in the morning, your private guide will meet you and transfer you to begin your exploration of this beautiful highland destination in northwestern Yunnan.
In the afternoon, visit the magnificent Ganden Sumtseling Monastery, the largest Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Yunnan and an important center of Tibetan Buddhism in the region. Often known as the “Little Potala Palace,” the monastery features impressive golden-roofed halls, traditional Tibetan architecture, and beautifully decorated interiors. Take time to admire the murals and religious artwork while enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and surrounding plateau scenery.
Afterward, take a leisurely walk through Dukezong Ancient Town, a historic Tibetan settlement with more than 1,300 years of history. Wander along its traditional stone-paved streets, admire Tibetan-style houses, browse local handicraft shops, and experience the distinctive culture and atmosphere of Shangri-La.
After the sightseeing, return to your hotel and enjoy a relaxing evening.
Day 2: Pudacuo National Park Exploration
Today, spend the entire day exploring Pudacuo National Park, one of the most scenic natural areas around Shangri-La.
The park is known for its alpine lakes, forests, meadows, wetlands, and diverse highland landscapes. Enjoy leisurely walks along the designated trails and take in the peaceful scenery of clear lakes, mountain forests, open grasslands, and seasonal wildflowers.
The combination of forests, alpine wetlands, and mountain scenery provides an excellent opportunity to experience the natural beauty of the Shangri-La region. Your guide will accompany you during the excursion and introduce the area’s distinctive highland environment.
After the visit, return to Shangri-La and enjoy a relaxing evening at your hotel.
Day 3: Shika Snow Mountain – Departure
After breakfast, travel to Shika Snow Mountain, one of the most impressive scenic areas near Shangri-La. Take a cable car ride, subject to weather and operating conditions, to reach the higher sections of the mountain and enjoy panoramic views of snow-capped peaks, alpine meadows, and the surrounding highland landscape.
Take some time to appreciate the spectacular mountain scenery and breathe in the fresh highland air before returning to Shangri-La in the afternoon.
After arriving back in the city, your guide will transfer you to Shangri-La Railway Station for your onward journey.
