The project has a total investment of 210-million yuan, 130-million of which is construction expense and is provided by the Hong Kong SAR government. The center is committed to the rescue and disease control researches of giant pandas nationwide. The center includes veterinarian for giant panda, 10 monitoring panda houses, 30 panda houses, panda food preparation rooms, feeding rooms, center for disease control and prevention, etc.
The project is a part of the overall plan of post-disaster reconstruction of Qingcheng Mountain-Dujiangyan scenic area.
