The first Wenchuan Dayu Culture and Tourism Festival was held on July 17 to 18, in Wenchuan County, Aba. As Shibi, the most authoritative and knowledgeable person in Qiang nationality began to chant out loud the religious scriptures on Saturday morning, the festival opened with a ritual ceremony to Dayu’s birthday and an inauguration ceremony of his altar.

　　The first Culture and Tourism Festival is sponsored by Government of Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Zhuhai Municipal Government, Academy of Social Sciences of Sichuan Province; and is undertaken by Wenchuan County Government, partnership assistance workgroup from Zhuhai and Historical Society of Sichuan Province.

Academic forums on Spirit of Yu the Great and Huaxia (Chinese) Civilization and Chinese traditional music concert: Voice of Huaxia, Grateful Wenchuan were held during the festival. Transfer ceremony of Project Miansi assisted by Zhuhai and several artistic performances with strong flavor and charm of local Qiang nationality were also included in the event.
