D1 Lanzhou – Xiahe – Labrang Monastery
In the morning,pick up from hotel or airport and transferred to Xiahe, a Tibetan town nestling in a mountain valley at an elevation of 2,900m in Ganan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. You will go sightseeing of Labrang Monastery. Originally built in 1709, Labrang Monastery is one of the main academic monasteries outside of Lhasa in Tibet. The monastery holds over 60,000 Tibetan sutras and thousands of rare Buddhist relics, including a statue of the most famous Tibetan king, Songtsen Gampo. Check in Hotel .
D2 Xiahe - Sangke Grasslands – Langmusi
In the morning, drive to Sangke Grasslands lying about 14km west of Xiahe. It boasts good reputation for its excellent pasture and frequent magnificent Buddhist ceremonies. You have chance to take the horse ride and pay the visit to local herdsmen's family. Also, you can sample local flavors and snacks like yak-butter tea, mutton, and Zanba. Then, transfer to Lanzhou ,end Langmusi.
D3 Langmusi - White Dragon River - Ocean of Flower
We set out from Langmusi at 10 a.m. along the White Dragon River and have lunch at its spring. After lunch we continue trekking and by 4 pm, reach the Ocean of Flower, a vast grassland where sheep and yaks graze. On this night, we will sleep in a yak hair tent with local people.
After arriving at camp, we take the halter and saddle off the horses and learn how to make a fire with yak dung as well as how to use a special Tibetan herding tool called a “pe.” We join our host family in driving the animals home and tying the yaks up for the night.
We will ride for approximately 4 hours today.
D4 camp site - Huagai Mountain - camp site
In early morning, the nomads are busy with their routine: milking, collecting yak dung, churning butter, etc. If you like you can experience and partake in these activities for yourself.
After this, we will leave for Huagai Mountain. We will ride for around 1.5hours to get the foot of Mt.Huagai, then will climb the mountain by foot. It may take 2 hours for the climb up and 1 hour down. Having picnic lunch on the climbing way. (If you are not fit enough for the altitude, please do not climb this mountain and ask us for our advice).
We will return back to camp for the last night.
D5 camp site - "Jikehe"- Langmusi
We will begin our return to Langmusi around 10:00am and arrive at around 2:30pm. On the way back, we will have a visit to a traditional Tibetan village named "Jikehe" and have lunch with one family there. So beside the young people's herding life on the grasslands, you also can see the life for old people and children in the village. On this day, we will spend approximately 3.5 hours on horseback.
D6 Langmusi - Lanzhou
Today, we will send you back to Lanzhou to end your tour.
