Reporters learned from the Provincial Tourism Bureau on July 20 that Sichuan has been officially identified by National Tourism Administration as the only pilot province in national standardization of tourism. For the next one and half years, Sichuan will carry out a series of exploration and standardization in promoting standardized tourism, establishing standardized system and assessing effects and results.

　　From now on, “Pilot Project on Sichuan Tourism Standardization” will establish a pilot system from governments to enterprises and from provincial level to cities and counties (districts). Sichuan will also compile “Provisions on the Management of Tourism Standardization Work in Sichuan Province” and “Pilot Evaluation System on Tourism Standardization in Sichuan Province”, in order to unify standards, implementation and supervision in the whole province and set up a pilot evaluation system for standardized tourism.

　　It is predicted that by 2012, Sichuan will have established five model cities, ten model counties (districts) and fifty demonstration enterprises in tourism standardization. It will also have complied one development program on tourism standardization, one standardized system, 20 new local standards, 30 regional standards and 30 standards for companies and corporations, forming gradually a complete mechanism of standardized tourism.
